These very early cars were not only engineering marvels of their time but also works of art. The generous use of copper, brass and bronze adds to the beauty. I’m sure in some instances the use of those materials was required by manufacturing limitations but beautiful none the less.

Great car and a great video too. Well composed and good camera angles. Just car noise too, no annoying music! Thanks.

For 1899 - 1904 and fact this this was rather affordable automobile, it was seriously fast for it's time.

This is a fantastic video! Very clear, and slow enough for the eyes to focus on each item shown. Beautiful job! We need many more like it of our early cars.

Cool video. I've never seen such a weird driving and control mechanism in a car, really interesting to see how they did things back then

The design is ingenious but so very French. Do everything really different and half the time hit on something great (the suspension and drivetrain) while also putting in something completely bonkers (the control system). Don't get me wrong, I love French cars (I own a Citroen 2CV myself which I've lovingly restored) but I love them because they're so strange and interesting and challenging to figure out if you don't have good manuals or diagrams to work from because things work different on every level. But so rewarding to own and drive!

Fantastic editing, with multiple cameras and great highlights on what’s going on. Many thanks for the effort in making and sharing! 👍 A question, if I may: how are the breaks on it? Because I guess you can’t use much engine breaking, with this gearbox?
@GasoliniASMR
@GasoliniASMR 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you kindly. Yes, there isn't much engine braking. The brakes are the 'internal expanding' type and operated by foot pedal to the rear wheels only. You need to think in advance to operate them!

@@GasoliniASMR thank you for answering. :) An absolutely fascinating car, and despite it’s venerable age, it does appear to be capable of going quite fast enough! I guess it’s just about thinking ahead and not wearing the breaks until you really need to.

Mostly thin gauge steel. Some similar cars of the period used a thin fabric or rubber.
