Your work is fabulous, Mr. Hull! That half-rotunda on the backside is a true architectural sin. I find it hilarious and also very sad that at 18 I know better. Our deck is in the works, and I am not optimistic. I'll send you some more of my original designs - always appreciate the feedback. Cheers! M.

Not a fan of the color, but I love that the details pop more. I personally would have gone for a more earth colored tone for that effect- a dark tan most likely- but the new color is an improvement and I suspect the client preferred the grey to other options presented, and as we are all aware, the client is always right.

The paint does make the features standout, however not sure the grey is right for the building, I think a more historic looking colour would have worked better.

Brent how are you involved with the design? Do you have designers in house, do you work with a specific firm or whoever the owner hired?

Most clients have a designer they work with, we've been lucky to work with some great ones. Thx.

Paint the exterior brick arch around the windows the light creame/white trim otherwise the medallion at the tops of the window look strange just floating. Tie in the brick arches around the windows. Then it will take it to the next level. It needs that chunkiness around the windows to give the trim on the house more visual weight in order to balance the size and scale of the house and honor the architecture. Everything else is awesome.

Go figure, first time I’ve liked a painted brick look. Stops the brick from breathing as much doesn’t it? But makes sense when you said you couldn’t strip it entirely
@BrentHullАй бұрын
Ok, good to know. Bricks to still breath, more slowly but their ok. Thx.
@sloqlapАй бұрын
I wonder if a laser cleaner would clean the face of the brick enough to get into the textured face compared to chemical or mechanical stripping of the paint.

Good question, I need to try that. Thx.

Just my two cents grey and white seem very not period to the age of the house something more modern perhaps like a woman Ina. flapper dress wearing a baseball cap. Obviously can't be slaves to the past but how do you choose a color that reads well with Tue language of the building?
@BrentHullАй бұрын
Good question. I need to do a paint color video.
@millcity9711Ай бұрын
In an ideal situation, it would be nice to strip the brick to its original appearance, but the new color is a huge improvement that compliments the tile roofing nicely. This is an exciting project and can hardly wait to see it when finished.
@pcatfulАй бұрын
He explained why stripping the brick wouldn't work out. Also you stand the chance of damaging the brick integrity by stripping the original surface and also having the the mortar not look completely clean and homogeneous.
@millcity9711Ай бұрын
@@pcatful Yeah, I got that. In a perfect world, it would never have been painted in the first place, but it is what it is.
