Oh great video on MY ;-) playground, Peter. I loved it! By the way, after removing the tonesquelch board, you can use the mic buttons an the left in space in the mic housing to insert a 1750 HZ generator for repeater call. You can inject the audio just in place, and ther is also DC power to feed the little pcb. Have a nice sunday, i will brew my next cup of tea. Als the best an 73 de Olaf.

Fantastic video as always. I’d love to better understand the construction differences between the commercial radios compared to the ham models. I own both types of radio and understand the differences in how they operate, but wonder what makes a radio like this of higher quality.

I have 2 or 3 of these old radios so its nice to know that they will work well on 2 meters Peter. Its just a shame that xtals are so expensive in the UK. Its as cheap to buy a programable multichannel radio as it is to but 2 crystals for a radio like this now. Great video Peter it takes me right back lol
@TRXLab5 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, yes that is true it is almost not worth to buy these crystals as those are more expensive than a newer PLL version. Thanks for comment 73

Bosch made FM two ways? That's a new one for me. I do know from personal use, they make some great pro-level demolition hammer drills. Too bad Mitsubishi discontinued those very versatile bi-polar based power amplifier modules that were used extensively in many older radios.

Yes Bosch was in in the radio business for decades...and they produced first call quality products. Thanks for watching

Nice mod Peter! I am a bit surprised anyone would still be interested in using a 2 channel xtal controlled 2m rig like this. The modern ones are so cheap now!

Well the audio quality is outstanding and that is what the operator was looking for. Thanks for comment

TRX Bench - it’s a very nice radio, I’d have been tempted to do a PLL conversion on it. Maybe I have too much time on my hands!

Do you still use the CMT55 for anything?
@TRXLab5 жыл бұрын
Yes it happens to be using the CMS 50 for FM and AM work and the CMT for SSB work. If I need special features such as moving notch filter I use the CMS only. Anyway there is no real reason for doing so. It is always good to have a full functional back up.

DO YOU HAVE TO SAY "YAH" EVERY OTHER FEW WORDS? IT GETS RATHER ANOYING...JAN BETA DOES THE SAME ANOYING THING. TRY TO NOT SAY THAT, AND SAY WORDS THAT MEAN SOMETHING PERTAINING TO YOUR DEMONSTRATION. YOU ARE VERY GOOD AT WHAT YOU DO, SO THAT IS NOT MY POINT.
@Alan2E0KVRKing5 жыл бұрын
Do you have to type a whole comment in CAPS? It gets rather annoying! Use caps to emphasize only what is important! Using CAPS on the internet in this way, is equivalent to shouting in real life. Maybe the "YAH" is a German thing?

Whisker49, it is not very polite to be a guest here and tell people how to act so that it is not anoying to YOU. YAH is JA (Yes), it is common when you talk, especially when you make sure that everything works fine and the results are as expected. JA! Peter is not a native speaker, his English is quite good. I bet, his English is way better than your German! Somebody to go with my bet?
