This is a battery powered 8-inch three speed fan, dating to 1910. The fan is powered by a six-volt rechargeable battery. It is only missing a small brass tab that would have been held in place (by a brass screw) just under the OFF / ON switch. This brass tab was used (presumably) to affix this fan to a wall, if the user chose to do that. The fan is quite light and could have easily been mounted on a wall or other vertical surface without much trouble. This is an early version which is characterized by the cage being pinned, rather than wrapped, around the rear ring.
