Happy Anniversary! Plane was flying good by the end of the video. I'm glad that you show your problems along with your triumphs in these videos. It makes those of us who are less talented builders realize that gifted builders have similar trials and tribulations. It mostly shows that the problems we encounter along the way are fixable. Thanks!

Thanks for the great video! Brought back a lot of good memories. I took a model flight class in LA way back in the seventies that Bill Warner taught. I remember building this model from plans (Model Builder magazine I think) Flew great. Your cap powered model is awesome!

Many congratulations to you both for your 10th anniversary! 🎉That's a cool and quirky little plane there, I like the patterns with enhanced dihedral, and I LOVE the little fellow up front. Cool hat for a pilot. Nice one folks! 👍❤️

Adding dihedral really helped. One thing I noticed was that the first wing to drop dictated the plane was going to circle in. Lift wing drop: counterclockwise flight. Opposite for a right wing dropping first. Love your .50 cal machine gun T-shirt!

I love this video .. What if we double the scale of this model ?
@joshuawfinn2 жыл бұрын
I unfortunately don't have time to pursue that right now, but I expect you would get very good performance. Probably a bit easier to trim too.

@@joshuawfinn Thank you very much for sharing this movie ..the model is one of my favorite ones but I have never had time to build and test it ..I always wanted to see its performance ..also I love free flight scale model since childhood and even now that I am 54 .I cannot look at them as toy .My job is very heavy and complex I am system engineer and this category of models act as strong pacifiers for my mind ..I love them so much specially their construction help.me to isolate my mind from the busy world ..they give me more focus and concentration ..I told these things to remind you why your craft and particularly its highest performance seemed to me amazing ...If you have any suggestion idea for suitable elecric motor specifications for a scale extended by double sizes I would appreciate it should you share it with me ..the weight and power are very important parameters and your practical experience and sense do matter in chosing and purchasing the right stuff with the lower leves of performance failure risks and cost ..also the most power ful and endurance and minimum weight battary which I should consider . Really thank you for care and reply .. I have found its last perfomance amazing ..what I have always dreamed in my mind ..

You are so lucky to be able to fly out side your door step I have to go to the local ball field early in the Am before the kids come out to play Love the super cap setup Josh is it ok to light coat a stick and tissue model with clear craft sealer to some what water proof in the am i am always dealing with wet grass
@joshuawfinn2 жыл бұрын
For bare balsa, an extremely thin coat of minwax spar varnish really helps. Tissue needs to be sealed with nitrate dope to maintain reasonable water resistance, however plastic covering is the best solution in wet weather.

so josh, i have a model pacer that is capacitor powered but i have not bought the capacitor yet cuz i dont know what to buy. it has the motor from the hobby zone champ and i would like to have it run for 15-20 seconds, what should i buy?
@joshuawfinn Жыл бұрын
I'd say anywhere in the 10-20F range, rated for 3V or maybe 3.8V.

A propeller speed reduction unit (bigger propeller is better) also counteracts the torque in the motor. The gears will only wear out very fast with any grit.
