This is exquisite work and I'm so pleased you didn't turn this into a changing table or a dry bar! Love Art Deco and you nailed not only the beautiful piece, but also the......ambiance? The FEELING of that golden era, when anything was possible, as long as you did it with STYLE! A much more modern Era than this one in some ways. Incredible restoration and excellent work! 😮😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Excellent job! I love the Black and gold detail work on the base. It reminds me of an old radio. Art Deco designs were so cool. Even the writing styles in advertising from that era was really attractive. I have a suggestion for an orbital sander for you. I work in a cabinet and millwork shop and I am the main finisher there. We use 5" Mirka electric palm sanders in the finishing department. I like them because they have a low profile, they're really ergonomic and you can dial them up and down to any speed you want. They also have a much better orbital action than your contractor grade orbital sanders, so they actually get the work done faster. I always found the Makita, Bosch and Dewalt sanders a bit top heavy for my taste. They can be quite tiring after a few hours of prep sanding or primer sanding. Best thing about the mirka is that you can easily hook them up to a vacuum cleaner. Ours have vacuum cleaners that the tool can plug into so it will turn on when the trigger is pulled. They are a bit pricey, but you will make the money back in the time saved and the decreased strain on your wrist and arm. Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to more projects!

This is very helpful, thanks so much! Will save these notes. ...and yes, radios from the era are fascinating. We're experimenting on ideas for a couple of them, actually.

Thank you a thousand times over for an Art Deco furniture channel. I drool over these pieces. I recently sold a massive vanity & mirror with chiffarobe. Unfortunately, it was too large for me to work on inside so I sold it. After she loaded it she said this would be her first piece. The veneer had chipped in many places from being in a barn ( western OK) & I wanted to cry. She said she would leave what she could & paint the rest. Restored versions with lesser mirrors were selling for $3000. You give me hope there are people out there finding & saving these works of art. Funny they were believed to be inexpensive pieces of furniture for people at the time are now some of the most stunning. Your talent brings out the beauty.

Question: Do you think the gorgeous handles were originally all gold? I thought I noticed a variation of color in the ad. Side note: I’ve got a waterfall dresser that’s nice but doesn’t hold a candle to what you’ve done!
@ArtDecoFurnitureАй бұрын
@@marthamiller-plumb1059 thank you kindly for the feedback! We assume that the handles were originally painted gold on this dresser. We could tell that the previous owner had repainted them gold at some point, so we buffed them and then reprinted them. When they are solid brass, we just leave the natural metal visible, but that wasn’t the case here.

Your work here, shows just how beautiful these pieces could be with some imagination, elbow grease and lots of painter's tape. I'm sure that chest of drawers never looked so good, even when new. My dad taught me that clamp trick. You are using the same orbital that I use, and I think it's great. I use it to sand tops of dressers and sometimes I'll wear through the veneer on the edge or something, but then color it in to match, so it's quick and effective. You would call that steel wool 4 ought (0000). (I had to look up how to spell it and that's what came up.)

@ArtDecoFurnitureАй бұрын
