I'd recommend; Putting the Drawer Pull (handles) Inserts that you have, starting with the top drawer. You may contact other restorers maybe one could 3D print replacement inserts ... just a thought....

I think you are right. Thank you for the input. The 3D printing is a good idea.

I saw a lady on another channel that had 1 missing insert so she casted a mold and made a new one with resin! I thought it was a great idea!

@@saraestridge3183yes, that is the way to go. You just have to tint the resin to match the Bakelite originals.

This is gorgeous. I think the warm satin really brought out the grain. I wish you had used the inserts on the drawer pulls. I think the color would really pull out the grain patterns. I think you did a great job on the color matching on the veneer chips. GREAT ASMR video, I really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to your next video. ❤

Those hand.e inserts are bakelite. Take one to someone who does 3D printing, and they can make an exact duplicate. They are valuable and a standard for this furniture. Nice job all around.

Your colour matching was good, but at first you matched your patches to the unfinished colour so when you applied the finish the timber changed tone. You can try dampening the surrounding timber with spirit to get the surrounding colour. You’ve done a fantastic job, it’s turned out really well

I realized after the whole thing was done where I went wrong. I should've known the paint wouldn't behave like the wood. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.

Great job Sir! I loved your editing, "I will spare you the sound of the handscraper, have some relaxing music", and the "aaarghh" when you were removing the old wheel. What a beautiful finish. The whole piece is amazing. Xx

Turned out absolutely gorgeous! The wood grain is amazing! Love the two toned look, very elegant! Love the drawer pulls would've been nice to use the inserts if you'd had all of them. But using them without the inserts works very well to! It's a beautiful piece! 😊❤

Beautiful restoration! It was so satisfying to watch the old top coat sand off easily. Please, put the inserts on the handles, at least the ones you have and maybe leave the top drawer without... whatever seems appropriate.

To fix the missing pieces or sand throughs, use blendall pigments with a little shellac. Oil paints will bloom unless you wait several days to several weeks. Alternatively, acrylic paints can work. They’re not as easy or quite as good as the Blendall, but not bad. Generally, they will be dry in a few hours at most.
@BuilttoCreate
@BuilttoCreate Күн бұрын
Thank you. I'll definitely look into that. I did use acrylics for the second touch-up.
