The Kings Monologue

6 ай бұрын

100 years ago, Egypt was a completely different nation. In contrast to the bustling metropolis cities that have become synonymous with this, now, 'Arab' nation that is dependent on it's tourist fuelled economy.
Back in 1925 however, we see an Egypt still steeped in the embers of ancient traditions, with the true descendants of the Kemetic culture still practising an ancient lifestyle in the same way, 4000 years after these practises were first etched in stone.
In this beautiful footage captured by the metropolitan museum of art, prior to the explosion of global interest in Ancient Egypt, and subsequent urbanisation of Cairo and Alexandria, much of the ancient Egyptian culture was under the custody of those indigenous southernmost Egyptians. Those black African Egyptians, who are today called the 'Nubian' Egyptians, were, in those days were not restricted to Aswan.
Modern Nubains state that, in these times, the dark skinned or black Egyptians never referred to themselves as 'Nubians'. But sadly, much like the wider global melenated populations, they have had this label thrust upon them by those desperate to benefit from this differentiation.
Indeed, they were, and remain, distinct from the mixed city dwelling populations due to their notable africanity, which is expressed in their pastoralist cultural practises, and a local penchant for adorning themselves in Gold. This was punctuated by their continuation of Nile valley practises that weren't reflected by the non-Kemetic populations, moving north of Aswan as one draws toward the delta region and Alexandria.
In this remarkable footage captured nearly one century ago, you will observe the undeniable preservation and continuation of ancient Egyptian tradition by its indigenous African population, who are modern times known as, the Nubians.

This is it! I'm 63 now. When I was a boy here in London, there was a program called Pathe News. This program would show places around the earth , different countries. Some of the photography was made at the beginning 19th century in roaring Black and white. Whenever they showed places like Egypt, Palestine, Israel, all I can remember seeing was Black African people. That is what I saw and remember. Good thing about being this age Is that I remember, Remember lots of things

What a shame. Waiting for the white man to validate everything when the truth should be so obvious for everyone to see. Africa is for African people, so it is no wonder that Egyptians are the so-called black people. Europe is for Europeans Asia is for Asians and Africa is for Africans. There, I have made it plain and simple to understand. Egypt is in Africa, and it will always be a part of the African continent and the black African culture.

I have an Iranian friend. On the surface he looks like a "black Arab" or a light skinned black man with "Arab features". He told me there are black people in Iran still living there who are indigenous to Iran (not brought there as slaves) and who have been there before the lighter skinned Iranians. He said the Middle East was originally black. Invasions and migrations have been going on for a very long time.

Egyptians where still mostly black until after WW1 the modern day Egyptian did the same as the Zionist and ashkenazi who follow judaism are doing now to the present day Palestinians . The major displacement came with the flooding of the Aswan and all the land around it. I will try to find the book if it still around. Well done given hope to all Nile Valley people and the people of the Harpe.

BRAVO!!! Your work is so needed. It's been so frustrating over the decades trying to argue with folks about these facts. When I started looking into the past of African Cultures, it was painfully obvious that the Egyptian representations were way off. I could see Black features in almost every ancient sculpture or wall painting, so how is it that this is even controversial? SMH. What culture uses the features, dress and hairstyles of another culture to depict themselves and their gods? Makes zero sense.

Hello @Theking'sMonologue, Happy New Year. I am from Nigeria, I've always heard the local ethnic groups especially the old ones talk about how we came from Egypt for some. I watched a documentary of someone talking about the history of migration and how the different tribes came and spread around Nigeria. There's this ethnic group known as the Nup`e, I've noticed their language is probably the most connected to many of the tribes in Nigeria from the North and the South. Just about a year ago I thought you all were spreading BS, I was annoyed and embarrassed even, until I was patient to watch a full video from Mister Imhotep. The video and the reality he gave were unarguable and too logical I continued to dig deep and coupled with some oral history I've always heard everything connected. There's a reason all these truths are coming out now and becoming more popular, there's a reason the White-washed narratives and views about the world is falling flat and people trust Caucasians less and less. Indeed we are that generation, we'll see!
@Jack-Pi8ni
@Jack-Pi8ni 6 ай бұрын
The alleged Caucasian ‘whitewashing’ of Egyptian story is a fairly recent tilling in historical terms. They weren’t a timeline twinkle, when the Mesopotamians, the Greeks, the Romans, the Persians, the Babylonians, the Ottomans and the Arabs were rampaging over these lands. The ancient black Egyptian ancestral connections have been whitewashed in the post Ottoman version of the near East Mediterranean region in the same way that Jewish links are being scrubbed.

Yes, they are. And I’ve seen them. They call themselves Egyptian, because that’s their nationality. However, ethnically and culturally they call themselves Kush. And for this King Nonsense to claim that the Kush only live in Aswan is utter nonsense. Most Kushite Egyptians do live near the border with Sudan, but there’s plenty living in the northern cities, like Cairo and Alexandria too. They’re good people and many of them work as guides at Giza and Saqqara for the tourists. Some of them are really good archaeologists too! Do they experience racism? Yes. And surprisingly from black American tourists, that claim to be the descendants of pharaohs.

Thank you!!! The history of Western architecture, which, 40 years ago, we studied for four years in our 5-year Nairobi University architecture undergraduate course, starts with the Kemetiou (ancient Egyptian). It then strung sequentially, through Greek, roman, Romanesque, gothic and so on ending with the post-modernism in a logical chronology with a few overlaps. Architecture is about how humans house themselves, their activities and property in response to social, environmental and technological forces. Therefore, to effectively learn the history of architecture in the manner we did, it is vital to know the social forces of, environmental forces over and technology available to the peoples whose architecture is under study. So we learnt much about the origins, culture and daily lives of the Greeks, Romans, Franks, English, Germans, Usonians and so on. However, there was very, very little on the origins, culture and daily lives of the Kemetiou, very little, yet, this was a literate civilization that recorded everything and had and the equivalent of newspapers. The feeling was like the Egyptian temple universities, cities, necropoli, pyramids and other monuments were built by unknown people who then drifted off and vanished into desert mirages. I often wondered why this happened and concluded that had the text book we used, published for Western universities, would, given the African details of the Kemetiou, have been inadmissible in those universities. IMO, enough is known now to fill in that gaping chasm…

I love architecture, especially Islamic. I was wowed by the Alhambra in andalucia, Grenada, Florence, genoa. Also Rome felt magical. As i went further north the less grander it became. It seems that Egypt was the grandest with its red granites and ornate decorations,then 1000 years later we have Rome/byzantium then the hapsburgs, medici, bourbons.. We then go to Normans, saxons with their barbaric castles and then to the gothic which to me seems strange, depressing and without much charm. I realised how villagey the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway looked. It seems the more recent the civilization the more drab the construction. Even London and france is not so impressive when compared to the iberia and Mediterranean. I was wowed by Iranian islamic architecture. You can just tell how advanced a civilization was by its architecture and cuisine. I have less than good words to say about Britain, Netherlands, Scandinavia... This is my amateur observations as a hobbyist Kenyan traveller.

I continue to find your exceptionally clarifying work in this area to be of great value, and worthy of broad consideration, as so much of this history has now been turned back onto a sort of guided ambiguity. It is also very true how the effects of retooling this subject in the western media has reshaped and utterly distorted many perceptions of the native peoples of this land in our memories and imaginations. Your dedication to the repair is noble and notable, and necessary. As many of these distortions have taken root in the west, they have often fallen prey to much of the anti-black sentiment that is now so prevalent in modern society, and provides ample opportunity for a willing west to protest any truthful effort to unveil Africa's deepest roots, and subsequent contributions to the world. Thank you for your tireless commitment to this effort. Your strong stance and vast understanding in the social media space is without equal. Blessings.
