1927 John Deere D S# 44891 Part 3: Crankshaft/Camshaft/Oil Pump/Cam Follower & Shaft Removal

Hello all and welcome back! Well, we dive DEEP into the crankcase on the 1927 John Deere D. This one isn't too terribly bad. The pieces are BIG and HEAVY, and I recommend having help or using proper equipment (and proper attire)! A big day of disassembly here... I hope you enjoy!

I spent some time vacuuming out the inside - you're right. Doesn't look too bad. I'm going to degrease and pressure wash the inside when I get the rear section torn down. My daughter sure does like being a part of everything! (And I am not complaining one bit)!

Hey, anytime you can enjoy family, be outdoors on a nice summer day and wrench on an antique tractor all while wearing your flip flops ... well, that ain't a bad day! ha ha Oh, that crankshaft looked so heavy ...... Good thing you pump the iron! I couldn't have lifted it.

I agree. It was a good day with good progress! I would guess the crankshaft weighs between 100 and 150lbs. Not "light duty" by any means!

Thanks for the video Kenny! Love seeing the little ones getting into it. My 8 year old son always has to help me. Last weekend I spent a few hours pressure washing the 756 diesel since it had years of dirt, grease and oil all over it. Needs more but looking a lot better. Can’t wait to see what comes next!

It really is unique in its' design. Later letter series tractors are similar, but there are quite a bit of differences.
