Typically no spark, intermittent spark, or a very weak spark is a telltale sign.

Seeing the size of those bores and the throw on that massive crank make me think the D is going to be a real torque monster. Thanks for the video, Kenny.

Your project is really inspirational for some D engine work I've been contemplating. When you wanted to drive the cam further into the gear, my first thought was to put a washer inside the RH cam bearing to make it press the camshaft further. Then remove it before final installation of course.
@KennyKizzleRustyNutzRanch
@KennyKizzleRustyNutzRanch 3 күн бұрын
I don't think that would have worked. Likely would have needed a stack of washers. Inside those cam bearings is not a flat surface - it is a dished surface and is much larger than the end of the cam itself.

Kenny, you're definitely making great progress! Those parts you are assembling look awesome. And I can tell you are in your element, wrenching away in your garage. You might have that tractor ready for Rollag. Keep up the amazing work and look forward to your next video! Tractor on! 🚜 👍

Kenny----watched your video where you disassembled three differentials and each was broken. how many additional differentials did you have to buy to find one that was not?
@KennyKizzleRustyNutzRanch
@KennyKizzleRustyNutzRanch 3 күн бұрын
Well, I had the first two differentials out of the 27 and the 28 D. Neither were good. Then I had one given to me by Barret, that came out of the first 28 D that I had a few years ago. That was broken as well. I ended up buying the 4th one from Hans. That one turned out to be good and here we are!

@KennyKizzleRustyNutzRanch

Yes. The block was bored .125" over! Crankshaft was ground to .030". Camshaft was completely reconditioned. Cylinder head was fully machined and set up.

Hey I have a case sc center exhaust, it also has a left hand clutch lever. I know nothing about this tractor but when I heard you mention this center exhaust comment it made me go look. I bought it off a stone wall, someone was using it for yard art and his wife hated it. Someone started taking parts off it to finish another tractor. I bought all the parts I needed to get it running, carb, mag and so on. It has a clutch issue and what I read online is that they run a different clutch or release bearing which makes them hard to repair. I took all the new stuff off it and boxed it up and use the tractor for a driveway marker. Someone had painted this tractor and put all new rubber on it and gave up on it because of the clutch issue. I don’t know what year it is but I can send pics and serial number to you if interested. Thanks, David Jordan

Couldn’t you weld the hole in shut on the hydraulic support, the drill back to the correct size ? Might save some money.
@KennyKizzleRustyNutzRanch
@KennyKizzleRustyNutzRanch 8 күн бұрын
That is a cast iron piece. Tough to weld cast iron. Besides, I could probably just grab a whole steering pedestal assembly with the hydraulic rod support arm..

Oh boy Kenny! I feel for you on grandpa's M. In addition to your massive list, it also looks like the rear tires are weather checked and only so-so as well. Ummmmmm Kenny, are you sure about this?
@KennyKizzleRustyNutzRanch
@KennyKizzleRustyNutzRanch 8 күн бұрын
Yes. The rear tires are checked but in ok shape as far as tread depth. One of them has fluid in it, and the rim is rusted away around the valve stem. Not ideal, but that's what we've got.
