1927 Waco ASO Walk Around

This is a walk around video of a 1927 Waco ASO. Andrew King, the most popular antique aircraft ferry pilot is ferrying a rare aircraft from North Carolina to Wisconsin . He stopped by the Dewey Drome for the night for a good night rest and to show us this beautiful Waco. We did some air to air pictures but no video, which I am sad to not get that done.

Very nice presentation. I’d like to add that Dan Neuman did two nut & bolt restorations on this plane while he owned it. I did get to sit in this plane a few years ago and it was amazing. Unfortunately, I never got to fly in it.

My Dad (I'm 73 but still remember stuff) had one of those Pyrene hand pumped fire extinguishers. As I recall, they contained Carbon Tetrachloride, CCl4. Produced nasty fumes if you actually had to use it! Wish I had that antique treasure today.

There were a few Pratt & Whitney radial engines with the magnetos mounted on the front, some of the 1830's plus the R-2000 and the R-2800's

Does the electric inertial starter turn the original inertial (hand-cranked) fly-wheel...or was that removed with the conversion, giving it less empty weight and hence more payload? I think the start-up procedure just answered my question.......
