I have wanted one for so long....worth every penny. Mag cover was sadly destroyed before i could get my hands on the engine. Moral of the story is allways get two people to move an engine. You can lift one of these on your own but it's still a big lump, about the same size as a lister d.

The exhaust goes into the cast iron expansion chamber on the side of the cylinder first, down a pipe and into the hollow iron base which acts as a second silencer. You can silence the exhaust but not the "chuff" from the intake! They are a very unusual little engine and I have wanted one for a few years.

Ah, the maytag twins, yes they are nice but a little too small. I have a loathing hatred of the single cylinder hit and miss maytag, I liken the sound of it to that of a fly that just won't go away and keep buzzing round your head in circles lol

Just when I thought I was totally over 2 strokes - this makes me think again! Well done phill!

The piston is fine, most of the noise you can here is the "suck" coming from the air intake, but the little end bearing is a bit worn so the engine will get another soon.

Yes and no, the inlet makes a fair old din but the little end is a bit worn too. When I restore it I shall machine a new bearing. But on load with the little climax pump it doesn't make any noise.

Yes, this was intended as a high speed engine, the machine work was of a very high standard so it could run very little oil.

Cheers! This is my 5th two stroke engine now.......got the bug I think. Off camera I did put a 6ft length of 3" bore drain pipe on the exhaust and it sounded fantastic lol

Indeed it shouldn't smoke as much as it is here, it's running more like 20:1 in this video. Once the old fuel in the tank is run out I will try it on 54:1.

Very nice runner Phill. Does the piston is a bit loose in the bore?

Im still trying to fathom out the exhaust system, it comes from the base casting? Never seen anything quite like it, seems to run ok though... :-)

@steamwally ill be honest. I would take a Maytag 72 twin over a WX11.... I love the 72 twin. Would like one still in the original washer. lol The WX11 is nice and I would have one, but I would swing to the maytag :L
