Onboard from a 1929 Bentley Speed Six on the Nordschleife, driven at Nürburgring Classic 2017. little confusion at the Kesselchen because of getting overtaken in double yellow and code 60 km/h.

Just when you think it's reached maximum speed, he changes up, and off it goes again ! Marvellous machine !

All that's missing is wind in the face, and the smells. Love hearing the brake applications, and engine tones at different loads. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Magnificent! Thank you so much for this. I, too, read Speed Six by Bruce Carter. If it weren't for the straight-cut gears and the rattle, the old girl would pretty much be silent! How fast did she hit on the straights? At first I thought she was slower going up the hills, but then on the downhill run - wow! (2 tons + high gearing always helps). She then seemed to hit her stride and the torque really became evident on the uphill runs, especially in the right gear (and look at all the more streamlined racers she was passing - you can line them up well with that radiator cap!). On the fast bits it felt like you were behind the boiler of the Flying Scotsman, but it also felt like the car was chauffeuring you around the racetrack - you felt like who bloody cares where you come - no other driver there had this !

Excellent, Riding along. Sorry the Mercedes SSK got ahead twice. Enjoyed your careful, powerful overtaking of many period sports racers. Thanks too to you and Steve Abrahall on IDing the streamlined silver speed six racer (Mother Gun).

Must be like roller skating round there on stilts. I was salivating while awaiting the Carousel. Nice to see the fastest truck in the world passing a couple of Ettore’s creations How superb to see so many fabulous cars of the era on the Ring, Goodwood on steroids!

When I was a kid in school I read a book called Speed Six! Awesome car, good story too. This is great footage. Love the sound of the straight cut gears and wind noise on the straight.

That was a lovely 14:35! The Speed Six is practically idling through most of the course, spitting and letting the torque talk.

Fast cornering was'nt the reason for the Bentley wins at le Mans, but speed combined with reliability and very strong hearts of both, engine and driver!

Sweet beans from here. Wouldn't say "no" had I been asked to pilot one or all of these as a lark.
