Thank you for the education of another great 1929 orchestra! Sounds like a polished New York swank hotel orchestra, complete with a lovely string section and twin grand piano feature...must have appealed to the top hatted Packard and Pierce Arrow set that habited the posh hotels around New York, like the Pierre on Park Avenue that advertised having Henry King's orchestra. A similar posh dance band. I can almost hear the young croon prince Rudy Vallee vocalizing this one. His orchestra also in New York, capitalized on these sweet salon style orchestrations. Pancho didn't need round glasses to see he had made it big at the grand Plaza Hotel!! Love your beautiful art deco graphics too.

Pancho's only issued cut at Victor was made May 24, 1929. (Nonetheless, 4 more takes were done June 10, with both bass and tuba added to the band - all rejected.) It appeared as side -A to Ted Weems' _Good Morning, Good Evening, Good Night._ Al Ross sang on radio, but became Stuart Allen on high-profile dates - such as with Richard Himber, where he became quite well known in the mid '30s.

....I believe Al Ross (Stuart Allen) was from England. What a great voice that really bloomed on the Himber sides. In 1929 he was very young and anemic sounding!

@@Prozoot I forget the source but ISTR him being the band's drummer then.
