Being a historian changes your life, I can't imagine how depressed the modern citizen is without any past anything and believing that the future needs to be a bleak dystopian robot function, yikes!. Anyway though, being a historian is great, I can imagine the snow scene on the street at Rockefeller, with a dark robin blue Wills Saintclaire sedan with a sharp white door lapel and fancy disc wheels, a lady walking by in a golden brown fur coat from neck to shoe

Is it known when this was recorded? Ted Lewis Orchestra's version of "Rhythm" was recorded June 22, 1933. I used to think that was good until I now have heard the Erwing version, which is faster and crazier.

Vinyl test of a 1932 Program Transcription? This is truly "jewels of the Nile" territory. The PT's are rare enough themselves, but this must be one of a kind.

@@alternateunreleasedshellac505 ....that scumbag has been stealing my soundtracks and graphics for the past several years. I tried to shut him down but YT will not do anything about it. He even lifted my Fair Use Declaration. Sebastiano Traina "Sebi" (in Florida) is a liar and a thief and someone needs to kick his ass. He is one of the reasons I will be discontinuing my videos.

@@Prozoot Wow... that's very scummy indeed. I thought he was your business partner or something. In the description on his YT channel it seemed that he made all of your thumbnails. If you hadn't already done so, it is possible to take down any video that features your content. I'd be happy to report his channel as well.

@@alternateunreleasedshellac505 ....he's 19 years old and has been stealing my stuff since he was 15. I filled out the official complaint form two years ago and submitted it to YT. Immediately, his videos were taken down, and then slowly they were reposted, and he adds new ones constantly. I blocked him, but that only stops him from posting sarcastic comments on my channel -- he can still copy audio and visuals. The left side of the graphic is his creation (can't you tell?) and everything else belongs to me. If you know a way of shutting down this creep, please let me know.

I've always thought ,"Either you Do or you Don't" is one of the top Victor foxtrots of 1928. It's original "wada wada" muted trumpet opening fanfare has never been equaled!. They are actually building a dramatic four horn pyramid chord!! 12:21 Am delighted you have more tunes to hear from this favorite San Francisco band that was a feature of the Mark Hopkins Hotel since it's opening a year before in 1927. This was the band that first played the hotel's famous Peacock Court, two years prior to the arrival of Sacramento's popular band, Anson Weeks! Thanks for this welcome collection of the great Eddie Harkness orchestra! A favorite of silent cowboy star Tom Mix.
@benzo4029
@benzo4029 Ай бұрын
Harkness must have admired the style of the Coon -Sanders orchestra , heard over the radio at that time from Chicago. I can hear their similarities especially in ,"Anything To Make You Happy". For instance, the piano solo sounds as if Joe Sanders had played it himself! The following horn solo sounds like a Coon Sanders lift too. Marvelous stuff topped off with trendy pyramid chords! Great. Thanks for showcasing this sharp West coast dance band!

Love the tricks of this well rehearsed orchestra! 14:57 the brass then the saxes alternately play each successive note in that upward modulation! Very difficult to execute. 14:33 amazing dueling triplets from the brass and sax section!

@@Prozoot You're welcome. I learned about it from my friend 2reeler who stayed at the hotel and dined & danced right there in the famous Peacock Court. His only regret was it wasn't in the Anson Weeks days! He says the mascot is still there center stage, a beautiful brass peacock with his tail fanned out with filagree plumage. I said he must be one tired cluck, having to hold those tail feathers spread out like that since 1927! 😋
