Gary, something that Michael’s doesn’t advertise much if you are over 55 you get a senior’s discount of 10% (I don’t think it includes everyday value items but it does include on sale items). This is the only thing I got excited about reaching this milestone in age.

Hello My_Kraft_Room - I'd get excited about the discount too. There's never any indication what discounts Michaels offers when you're in-store at check out. I've found a few in these comments that I didn't know about. One time I was with my mother in-law and the cashier told us about the 55 plus discount - that was nice.

The Prym hook would be tapered, I believe. I recently bought those hooks to supplement my 'collection' and am very happy with how they are working up so far. My favorite hooks are Clover Amour. Have a great day. 🐞

When I need a certain size hook I go looking through my WIPS. I learned a long time ago that if I don't see a hook, squeeze the project and squeeze the ball of yarn - it's kind of like a treasure hunt!

I can't even remember the last time I was in a craft store, Michaels or Joann...there are none close to me...all about a 30 minute drive... usually the selection is lacking... the closest is a hobby lobby, I only go during clearance, luckily I missed the last one. 🤣😂🤣😂

Hi Christine - I also find that Michaels tends to have their flagship stores that seem to get everything (all the new yarns and plenty to fill the shelves). Our best and closest Michaels is the one I filmed in - about 4 hours away from home. Our other close one (2 hours drive) is really the pits.

Hello Jilliem - I thoroughly enjoy the surprises when I haven't been into Michaels for a long time, but there needs to be a good restock or reset of new yarns to make it interesting. I'm guessing every 6-12 months might be all I need to get the fix.

Hi Gary. Thank you for sharing your trip to Michael's with us. I have used the prym hooks and I like them alot. I used Boye only for years, but was having problems holding them so someone suggested the prym. It took me a while to get used to them ( I was set in my ways) but I kept at it and now I use them all the time. I did find if they stick or 'squeek' if you rub them with a fabric softener sheet it helps. Have a wonderful day and God bless!

Hi Tammy - thanks for the great tip with using a fabric softener sheet on the Prym hook if it starts to squeak. I've also had to retrain my hand and movement when I work from Susan Bates to any other hook, so I'll keep that in mind too when I am starting out on the Prym.

I did the vanishing hook thing, Usually careful, but like you it had gone , and was hiding in a ball of yarn.. I purchased another , and found the lost one , a few moths later. Now I am careful about putting my hooks back in the roll. I didnt like the prym hook, but my best friend loved it !!!!Thanks Gary, I didnt tell my husband , he thinks I am eccentric anyway !!!!

I have a ser of Prym hooks. I LOVE them. My hands sre smaller but thr shape ofthese work well. Some value yarns will squeek and cause a bit of resistance.but I only had to change hooķs once.

I have a Prym hook that might be that same size. I really like it especially for the smaller sizes. I find it hard to find smaller size hooks that I like since I don’t care for the metal ones. Be careful with it though as it can snap & break.

Good point on the fragile nature of the Prym hook. I think this one is made from some type of synthetic (plastic?), but I can see how a drop could crack or shatter the tip.

Your camera work was wonderful: nice and steady! I am super sensitive to camera movement, and usually I can't watch YarnTubers' shopping videos (even my own!) at all because I get seasick after a few seconds. But this was no problem! Loops and Threads Soft and Shiny is super pretty, but it has to be one of the splittiest yarns I've ever used. 2/10 would not recommend. (That said, I know someone who crocheted an entire full-size blanket out of it, so maybe it's just me?)

I am not fond of super bulky yarns or novelty yarns. CYC #4 is where I like to shop with #3 catching my eye more and more in recent years. The Re-Spun is a nice yarn that I’ve used once. Prym tools are nice, but I only have 1 hook. I like the look of the one you bought and look forward to hearing how you like it. TFS! ❤

The loops and threads facets yarn makes beautiful projects however, it’s roving style and very hard to frog if you have to for whatever reason, can be splitty as well but not too bad. Colorways are amazing though.

Hey Gary! Love the video and I am wondering how come you didn’t buy the ‘crunchy’ yarn… lol… I am not a fan of acrylic but I do like the Heartland for it’s softness. Have you tried Estelle yarns? It’s a Canadian brand and their prices are really great for natural fibres…

Hello friend - LOL regard the shelves and shelves of the chunky monkey yarns. Imagine the area needed to store them. I don't have the room. I have tried the Estelle yarn lines - both the cotton fingering cakes and the hanks of merino/alpaca. Exactly my thoughts on the price for the product too!

Gary! That same thing happened to me with the Craftsmart yarn! The same name and everything! How funny!!! I do wonder if they are in the middle of the-branding the yarn. I’ve been curious bout the Prym hooks. I’d love to know your thoughts after you get a chance to use it.

You would like the facets. I love them. Craftsmart isnt loops & threads as you know. I do believe they made a mistake on your order.. oh my gosh ive lost many a hook in skeins. Its amazing how easy it is to lose them. Glad you found it. Do you like Prym hooks?
