That really is a sweet looking hotrod. I particularly like that shade of blue. Also I notice that in a lot of your videos, you are having to fix someone else's mistakes. Must be frustrating for you, but atleast it pays your bills. I like the way you explain your work. You show the before, during and after. And you explain your fix in great detail, which I find very helpful. Thanks for sharing this video was us.

companies make HEI distributors like this. my guess on the timing thing is the vacuum advance was connected to manifold vacuum instead of ported. when you first tip into it the idle vacuum goes away causing the advance to go away until engine speed picks up and starts making vacuum again

There are hei distributors made to fit ford. I put one on a 390.

Need a bit of geometry, to get shifter adjusted right. I measure swing at pivot point,on shifter and transmission,with the pivot, makes it that much more difficult. Did you flush the cooler?

What's wrong with the Ford Duraspark ignition with the big cap, and the blue module ?

The way I see it Jeff is to tape off most of the hood that you can save with the paint. Cut the hood down to fit which is going to require putting in some of the original hood support metal like the original had to stiffen it up. This hood is likely a good two or more inches too wide and will never fit. I have seen people try to fit more stuff on the firewall portion of where the hood rests and that hasn't ever worked right. That fellow who painted this car did the owner no justice in just painting something that doesn't fit right. The original hood held down at the bottom and pulled the hood metal down like it was stretching it
