Mmm, mmm, good. That is sweet! I love the rough edges. They sure knew how to make them. Excellent. 👍 I really like Parkers. I'm looking forward to seeing more of that little clasp knife. Thanks so much for for sharing Rick. I'm off for a walk in the woods! 👣

The chamfers on that one look really neat up close, almost gives it a chip-flint look. I really like those big barlows. Thanks for giving us a look at this one, and for the update on cyclops kirk! Hope you have a great weekend, buddy.

Thanks Knife Detector! A not so well kept secret about me is, although I love a shiney new knife, it's the vintage stuff that I adore most! And that rare Camillus Model 11 is one of my favorite EDC's. Now, it may be my favorite back-up carver too!😂 Take Care My Friend - Have a Great Weekend👍

Fantastic condition for a ninety year old knife and a nice blade shape too. For the scooping when you are carving , I use the small spay blade on my Rough Rider Classic carbon sow belly stockman. I don't like the spay blades on trappers at all but the smaller ones I find useful because of the edge being more rounded at the tip.

The old Grandaddy is in superb shape, somebody took great care in making sure that when they did use it, #1 don't drop it!😂 #2 don't use it on things that will make you have to sharpen the blade over & over. The first thing I look at after finding a vintage knife I may be interested in, is how much steel is left on the blade? This big fella is near 100% full! That's why we get to see that awesome blade shape you're talking about!!! Take Care My Friend 🙏✌️

Hello. A lot to look at there. Been using my RR trapper as edc and eating knife all vacation. Impessed many friends who were surprised i didn't have one of my usual flippers. Lol. The Rona has closed permanently the cutlery shop i usualy buy something from. All the best.

Yeah Tom, I've been hooked on them ever since I bought that Strawberry bone Robeson-Queen (still to show) last month to go with the Stag version.. (Both 1994's). I also found 2 Schatt & Morgan GD's at a bargain price, but this 1930's GD Barlow is the sh!t! 😂

@@Warthogg1 hell yeah it is! I have a pre-1964 camillus in sawcut bone. Every rough rider ever made I believe. Some others I can't think of right now too. I have always wanted a vintage case granddaddy but I want one in good shape. I know they are out there I just haven't pulled the trigger on one yet. I have watched a few of the queen made robeson granddaddys in strawberry bone come and go and always kick myself for not getting one. I have a 2 blade robeson barlow in strawberry jigged bone. Can't wait to see the surprise in the box!!

Don't force it Tom, I wanted a vintage Granddaddy quickly - so I bought that original pre 1964 Robeson Grandaddy. Even though I only paid $20, it is pretty much a doorstop now! lol...Just way too much steel sharpened away on it. I was lucky to get this GD @ $62..a Vintage Sheffield GD barlow I was bidding on went for $83 last night😣

It's pronounced Redding. I live 30 minutes from Reading PA. I had no idea someone used to make knives there. That's a great looking knife.
@Warthogg1
@Warthogg1 4 жыл бұрын
LoL, Thanks Wiz! I always butcher the pronunciations. But yes, I heard of Redding - thought it was a different town. We always pronounced it "Reading Railroad" when playing monopoly 🥴 It's hard to find out anything about this manufacturer. Not surprised you never heard of them.

@@Warthogg1 yeah Pennsylvania is full of places that are difficult to pronounce. Although there were a couple i saw in Michigan that I had no idea how to even begin pronouncing.

So while on vacation this last week I found an older equal end cigar Jack knife that has a marbled what looks like delrin or some type of plastic . What makes it unique is that it has no brand name stamped into the tang only a patent number . Do you know a good way to identify it ?
@Warthogg1
@Warthogg1 4 жыл бұрын
I would try searching "#### knife" with the #'s representing the patent number. Good Luck Boney🤞

So I found some info I think is close to accurate. Utica cutlery. Patent was filed in 1940 and granted in 1942 .

I've said it before and I'll say it again. You keep pulling out knives that I would love to have in my pocket when I'm out and about Rick. It's frustrating living in a country where knives like that are not readily available
