Nice antique from the 30's !! . I also have a 1500 rapid from the 60's - a very scarce model- and a modern 829 lantern.

Great video, thank you,I also have a Petromax 826 lamp,if you look at my channel you will see mine,I just had to tighten the nipple very tight as fuel was leaking from it.It is my best Petromax lamp,I have a few more,Thank you,Fions

Hello Fiona, I looked at your video, the carburetor of your lamp will be clogged. you can easily clean it with an old bowden cable from the bike. The filament becomes stuck and therefore the petroleum can no longer gasify. this leads to the flame aura as seen in the video. best regards Dirk

@@noregunterwegs Hello Dirk, thank you so much,if you look at the other video you will see the same lamp working very well,I just tightened the jet nut with a spanner ...thank you,I think it is the same lamp as yours? Maybe the hood is newer on mine.. Very similar and says Petromax 826 on the bottom.. must try to polish/clean it. Are you a member of Classic pressure lamps? Kind regards, Fiona I only use oil lamps

Hello Fiona, seems to be the same lamp. a petromax 826. polishing will be difficult because it is not chrome. the lamps were then nickel-plated. i am not a member Greetings from Germany Dirk

@@noregunterwegs Hello Dirk, I hope you are well? I wonder can you help me with my Petromax 826 lamp? I think the carburetor might need to be cleaned as there is a flame aura coming outside the mantle.Do I take off the jet and then open the large nut lower down the curly tube(carburetor) and carefully remove the curly tube and then clean the inside of it with something? Kind regards,Fiona

@@fionafarrell43 Hello Fiona, yes exactly, you have to loosen the nut and remove the upper part of the carburetor. and unscrew the nozzle at the top. Then I take a drill that has the same diameter as the carburetor and turn it by hand to loosen the coking. Once from below and from above, whereby you have to pay attention to the thread at the top. From time to time I knock the carburetor out on a piece of wood. After that I always take a piece of the Bowden cable from the bike or moped and now it gets tricky. You have to try to get that into the coil from above in order to clean it with it. There will probably also be a lot of coal in there. You can also simply test whether the coil is seated by putting the carburetor rod into the carburetor and trying to blow through the carburetor. Finally I put the parts in an ultrasonic bath, if necessary just hot water with a lot of citric acid in it. Kind Regards Dirk
