In this video we are starting a new build, a 1932 Aston Martin LM {le Mans}.
I am building this CycleKart for my 14 year old son. He outgrew his first Cyclekart that we built in 2016.
This build will be a version of the frame design that I have used on the Model T, the MonoWasp and the 1913 Duesenberg CycleKarts.
We are going to include a few comforts, headlights and taillights with working break lights for safety.

Do you still have the template for the forward part of the frame (the curved downwards frame rails)? I guess I can make my own, really wish you had recorded the build of that part, this looks really good, I guess I understand that you notched it but would have been helpful to see how that was done first before attempting on my own

Sometimes when I am building, it is really hard to remember to record those little nuggets. I just drew it on a cardboard template until it looked about right. It has a gentle arch and it is really just what looks good to your eye. I drew it several times to get it to the way I liked it.

Welcome and thanks for watching. Most of us are using the wheels from the Honda CT90. There are millions of them out there and still being made today. Brand new versions can be found made in Thailand

I'm working my way through all your videos, I saw on your receipt you're MIG welding with gas instead of Flux core. I heard you say in one of your videos you're not a great welder. Do you have your MIG cable inside the welder wired DCEN or DCEP? It makes all the difference in the world in how the bead lays down. Jerry in Montana, overhead MIG welding 8 hours a day since 1986.

I am using an eastwood 175 mig. There are very few setting on this machine. I am not sure what the DCEN and DCEP are? Usually when I weld a frame, the first 6 or 7 beads are ok, then the later beads look much better. I need more practice for sure.

@@stevevinson6030 DC Electrode Negative vs DC Electrode Positive. One puts the heat into the work and the other puts the heat into the wire. Google DCEN vs DCEP for an explanation 🙂 Your machine may have come wired for flux core and you're welding with Co2/and or argon. Open the cover where the drive rolls are, reverse the ground clamp cable lug with the other cable that's there with the machine unplugged. Try a weld and see if they improve, you won't hurt anything. Run 15-20 cubic ft/hr of shielding gas. The videos of your welds look suspiciously to me like it's reversed.

@@stevevinson6030 So I downloaded the manual for your machine, says it comes set up to weld hard wire. Dcep. Wire from the drive rolls goes to red knob +, ground lead goes to black knob -. For flux core wire you reverse that polarity to get Dcen. Don't know if you bought used and or it got switched. If it's set up correct I apologize for wasting your time.
