30 years as a Millwright, but only 1 CycleKart race. Your Circlip will Not hold your wheel on. There's a significant amount of side load on the rear axle in corners. I've seen video of wheels folded over when people got too aggressive on rough tracks. I recommend a washer and cotter pin, or a castle nut if you have the ability to thread your shaft. Something else to keep in mind is being able to remove tire/wheel combo at the track in a hurry. Loving your build so far.

The circlip is something that has been on my mind since I went that way to secure the wheels on I’ve been considering drilling and a large split pin as well But it’s looking more likely to have both hubs clamped to the axle as both driving wheels

Been following your build, like the idea of building the chassis with changing the body in the future.
@Oldguydosestuff5 ай бұрын
Yes rivnuts in the chassis to bolt body and floor pan too so I can change or upgrade anytime easily 👍

Your wheels came sooner than expected then mate 👍🏻 Good progress there, you’ll be driving the frame in no time 😁

Yes I found some, but at an extra cost, a price I was happy to pay rather than wait 6 weeks for the next container of wheels to arrive in the UK These cyclekart builds are gaining serious momentum in Britain now

@@Oldguydosestuff They certainly are, we got in at the right time or there’s be no parts anywhere lol Have you got tyres? I picked up a set with tubes for £90, white walls too :)
@Oldguydosestuff5 ай бұрын
@@Yosser70 I’m waiting for tubes and tyres I’ve just put it on the floor to start making seat box (probably out of wood) may upgrade later to alloy, but thinking wood could be lighter and stiffer 🤷♂️

What is the thread on the end of the steering rack, you could make your own track rod arms & use rose joints
@Oldguydosestuff5 ай бұрын
Yes standard metric thread righthand one end but left hand thread the other end and I didn’t have a left hand tap, but maybe a future upgrade, definitely 👍
@PhaetonMuddybuggies5 ай бұрын
@Oldguydosestuff McGill motorsport do inserts in both lh & rh thread, the also do rose joints in lh & rh threads. Along with a piece of tube used to make them for the back of the buggies

Nice work. Did you fit a sleeve into the chassis under the 2hole bearing carrier, to stop it crushing the 3x1 rail?
@Oldguydosestuff5 ай бұрын
Yes I tack welded a bit of cut off tube on each hole to stop the rail collapsing in 👍
