I have wondered if he gets a special nod from the cops there, no way that thing is street legal, no bumpers no signals, headlight/taillights. I have seen a special "Jay's garage" plate in some episodes he doesn't even have that.

Episodes like this are the best. Modern cars get more clicks but this is an amazing piece of engineering and automotive history. Mercedes was so advanced in the 20's and 30's, a W154 was like a spaceship. BTW Jay looks like Tazio Nuvolari.

More and more, channels like this make my cares fade away for modern cars. Old/older cars is where it's at...soooooo much more character and individuality, and FUN. One side comment: I’ve just completed a 6.3 300 SEL to showroom condition in the UK, but without doubt the classic car parts divisional M-B Germany do not have as many parts as one would hope. I bought from secondly parts dealers and recovered bits from donor cars around the world. I mention this as Jay Leno indicates everything is available, but my bank account proves otherwise. Nick.

That is most likely due to no power steering aka manual steering knuckle. With manual and Power steering that doesn't work you have a turn wide and accelerate slightly to make the turn.

👍 Love the vintage/classics. And refreshing KZbin vids when there are so many know nothing KZbinrs with millions of subs & views. Jay may be a Richie rich but he is into it, knows his stuff & brings in knowledgeable people.

I understand the "Richie rich" reference but it really doesn't apply to Jay. He has the bucks today to have assembled one of the most complete car collections in the world but he didn't inherit that. He earned it from the days working in a car dealership as the "lot boy / runner" to the years working the comedy clubs long before the Tonight Show was ever offered to him. He earned every dime and has applied it rather well. I like the comment he has made a couple of times regarding the collection. He says something to the effect that he has had only one wife for all of these years... and all of these cars. Great Choice; Good Judgement!!

Yes indeed. It occurs to me that he has sunk his fortune into this car collection. Doubtless he has more than enough to live well, but one’s impression is that he lives relatively modestly.

My favorite part is when it backfires lol, I’m 28 yrs old and got more excited watching this than the new retromod episodes, this definitely deserves way more views

Here in Germany you have to rent a complete racing circle to drive this car. In America, come on lets get a ride, just on open streets. nice🙂

I think 1932 might be Jay's year. Between this beast and Nuvolari's Alfa Monza he has never looked happier.

I wonder what is the stopping distance of this casket from 230 km/h, without using a hedge.
