This is a great video. And It underlines the fact that this watch was made 20years(!) before those pieces we recognize as modern dive watches (fifty fathoms, sub, etc). As for the reason to make this video now: I think the planet ocean is up next for a makeover. And this is part of a multitude of videos up until the release of the new PO. I hope I am right, looking forward to it.

Omega should start a Heritage line, producing modern re-imaginings of classic watches. They’ve already had a few like the Seamaster 1948 or 300, and the Speedmaster ‘57. A modern take on the Seamaster 200 or some of the 80’s Seamaster Automatics would be great (in a larger size 40mm). And a square watch to rival the Cartier Santos or Tag Heuer Monaco.

Dear Omega, Great presentation ,on a part of your history.I believe that myself and other Omega collectors, and fellow Omega owners, would greatly appreciate the re release of your iconic military issue Omega Seamaster 300 ST 165.024 from 1967," Big Triangle". This watch in its modern day re issue, would keep the Matte Black dial, and indices and hands as in the original. Please NO FAUX PATINA.but with modern lumen. A full lumed Bezel,, made of Aluminum,, treated for scratch resistance. A sapphire crystal and a master Co axial movement, for accuracy and anti magnetism. This watch, would have great appeal, due to its military heritage, rugged simplicity, and most importantly ,because there is a interest, in military inspired watches, as seen by releases of other top tier brand. We remain hopeful, and thankful , that you consider this suggestion. With humility, Thank you !

@@almac9203 Uhh... it's a bit of a long story I'm a fan of telephone soundboard prank calls, and an old bail bondsman called Fred Gordon Herbert from California is a pretty famous prank call victim known as the Bail Bondshman (the bearded guy on my pic) He was baited in a call to bail out someone from Diamond Bar Walnut Jail, and "Walnuts" became his favorite food in prank call (they spliced lines where he breaks his tooth on a walnut, asks shops for pumpkin spice walnuts, etc. etc.) and in another call, he talks about beastiality So I chose these two words as an homage to the old guy 😁 Rest in Peace, Fred (2018)

I have a SMP from 1998. Mine had the movement (quartz was an alternative at the time) and the much lesser common steel bezel which was the precursor to ceramic bezels. Serviced only once, it’s never missed a beat in the nearly quarter century that I’ve owned it! I love that watch and it still looks brand new! And oh yeah, I have a family tie to James Bond. My great uncle was the sound producer from Dr. No through Octopussy and was close personal friends with Sean Connery.

Sorry, guys but the guy in the bathysphere was at one atmosphere of pressure inside of it. So the Omega watch that he was wearing was at no more pressure than walking in the park on a Sunday afternoon. That whole little drama was meaningless in terms of water leakage or a pressure rating of that watch. I also seriously doubt if the Diver in heavy gear was wearing that watch, not that he needed it for anything. The platform that he used to ascend was controlled from the surface by a crane operator and a diving Supervisor with a watch of his own and using a pneumofathometer tied to the Divers umbilical to tell his depth.

Rec diving limit is 42m not 12m. Furthermore Barton and Beebes bathysphere was kept the occupant at atmospheric pressure negating the need for a dive watch. Really omega? If you’re gonna promote a dive watch line as a serious tool watch then this doesn’t help.

It's a shame that any of them are able to get as much for their watches. Based on the actual cost of materials, research and development, and manufacturing/sales, none of them are worth what they command. We pay the exorbitant costs to finance all of the adventures/teams/celebrities that these companies sponsor. I hate it because when I stare close up at some Rolex models, and some Omega watches as well, I get lost in all of the fine detail, and think about the manufacturing techniques that these outfits have developed.
