Fantastic treatment of this atmospheric number from the best (for my money) Warner Brothers musical of all time!

@@beiderbecke1927 Same here, giving FP the edge overall. I love Aline MacMahon in Gold Diggers -- marvelous, versatile actress. ... I think the "My Forgotten Man" ending was brilliant -- as well as rather daring, given that the film was intended as a musical comedy. You might expect political commentary in a gritty drama -- say, WB's contemporaneous _I Am A Fugitive From A Chain Gang_ -- but not necessarily a Busby Berkeley thing with neon light violins!

Always loved *Footlight Parade* the best myself.

@@beiderbecke1927 I think it was in the Gold Diggers set I have that a docu on Buzz was included; fascinating character and extremely talented choreographer ... maybe even director -- even if Judy hated him. I do love the "I Got Rhythm" finale of _Girl Crazy_ .

@@scotnick59 You can't go wrong with Cagney & Blondell, Dick & Ruby, Busby Berkeley and those tunes!

@@beiderbecke1927 Yes, I would imagine that the somewhat eccentric Buzz was pretty tough and demanding -- and, of course, Judy was not only young, but already a mess from the pills and the effects of overwork. ... Glad to hear your thoughts on the Judy movie. At first, I was kind of intrigued, but then I became wary. Now I'll have to check it out. ... Yes, despite the fantastic extent to which their characters' diverged from their own lives, the one reality is that Mickey and Judy were two extraordinarily gifted and charismatic young people. I guess it's only because we now know how different they were in real life from the relative innocents they portrayed in film that we chuckle a bit at the "let's put on a show" and Andy Hardy series storylines. In their day, though, the characters had to have been relatable or these films wouldn't have been so wildly popular. ... I watch _Love Finds Andy Hardy_ , the one in which Andy meets Betsy, every Christmas season.

Splendid, florid alto saxophone in the bridge! (And a bit over the top after the vocal.)
