I've got my grandmas first guitar my papaw bought her before he went off to ww2. Its a 42 j45 Banner and only thing I've had to replace are the tuners. 2 of the Bakelite ones broke off. Plays and sounds wonderful.

Interesting for sure. I would have loved to see a sound comparison to the “originals”. My understanding is that “new “ top aged more than ten years would sound similar to much older ones? We have learned a lot about instrument construction and care over the years , so hopefully the newest round of guitars will fare much better 80 to 90 years from now.

That would be a big help, but it's more of a shame that they didn't cut out the dovetail clearance!
