From Leo: Even without a blower, a warmed up 396 is a handful in a light little coupe. 3-5 psi of boost is enough to make it an animal. It looks like a fun car. Happy for you to have it.
@uncledougshotrodgarage60493 жыл бұрын
Agreed, Barb. Just the 396 alone would be a hair-raising ride, but the blower adds another dimension. Surprisingly, it's very docile up to around 2000 RPM, when the boost begins.

Hello Uncle Doug, Very nice Rod, Thank you for sharing it. Glad to see your still at it, always looking for an Uncle Doug video. Been very busy but can always find time for you. My Brother had a 1963 Plymouth Savoy, 2 door post, the Fury looked the same, they make a nice more modern Rod, race car, I think. Glad your doing well. Thanks for featuring 'Ol Rusty on occasion in your videos, he helped make your channel what it is. John Audio Tech recently lost his Cat Snickers, who was also somewhat of a celebrity. Still warm day's here in Oregon, wild fire season came early. Wishing you all the best, and, every Happiness, C.

Even at 1psi, that blower can increase power significantly while using a slight overlap cam/zoomies. Now, overdrive the blower and run methanol injection and it’ll blow the tires at 80mph! You’re probably sane to leave it alone. What a cool ride you picked up!

A real beauty, UD. That blown 396 made my eyes water. What a beast! And a daily driver at that. I like appreciate trailer queens as much as the next guy but personally believe vintage cars should be on the street, very much like vintage amps should be heard. I applaud your strength in resisting the urge to turn up the boost. It would be a ton of fun but the car already has enough muscle to move a house off its foundation.

Thanks for the tour of the new rig UD. Very cool, very interesting - and yes, it certainly looks loud regardless of the baffles! Had a bit of a chuckle when you mentioned "never know with the type of gas, etc." - - Bummer to think back to the days of being able to buy plus 100 octane from Sunoco and running around with ridiculous compression ratios - - ah but very unfortunately, those are days long gone. Amen, Skip. We had El Paso Red Flame Gas with gas pumps that allowed you to select the octane.....up to 102, as I recall.....for less than 30 cents a gallon.

I was thinking you could install a mercury switch in the trunk lid so the light would come on automatically when it was opened. You could also replace the gas tank with a fuel cell that would fit in between the frame rails for more trunk space. Overall, very nice looking car. Looking forward to your next video.
