When I was a young teen one of my neighbors had that same car in his carport. I used to walk by his house hoping he would be outside working on it so I could watch. That car is the reason I’ve had 30’s cars my whole life. I’m 67 now. I am so amazed I am seeing it on your channel! I would love it…

That is an awesome car to build for someone. If I were 40 years younger and know what I do now and have the shop and tools I have now I would be in to trying my hand at it. Good luck with it whether you build it or sell it. Thanks again for sharing this hot rod with us.

That poly engine was a modification of the hemi, substituting the poly heads which had a single rocker shaft setup. This made a less expensive engine to build, versus the hemi with the double rocker shaft setup. Yes, some poly engines can be fitted with the hemi heads, but I believe there were other parts that needed to be changed to facilitate this -- the pistons for one thing.

Agreed! Back in the '70s I put a 340 in my '32 Plymouth 3 window coupe fenderless with a 727 trans and an 8 3/4 rear with 3.23 sure grip. Mopar bodies deserve Mopar engines, It really adds to the coolness factor, doesn't follow the boring "just stick a chevy in it" crowd and there are plenty of great Mopar engines to choose from! They sound better too!

Definitely fresh paint (Sorry Jolene). I like the original patina when the surface rust is scattered, like a well-loved car, but not when it looks like a field find...which suggests a not well loved car. I'm thinking Fire engine red, with black interior, or high gloss black, with red interior. But whatever you decide will be spectacular. (if you do decide to leave the patina, clear coat the heck out of it to show it some love.. Wishing you both a productive and stress-free day.

Chad, thinking about it, I think to keep the body at the height it needs to stay, build around the Axel so suspension can be added and not sure I'd want to take space away by channeling it but the boxy roof does need chopped probably 1.5" but I'd have to be sure before cutting
@RonaldReed-ul9du9 ай бұрын
Poly head, aka polygonal was an attempt to reduce the complex (compared to usual wedge shape) machine costs of multi angle valves which helps unshroud the valves, think BBC and Ford Cleveland. The Hemi was designed just prior to WW2. The poly heads still cost more to manufacture than wedge, so the wedge was the peanut butter and jelly design. I love those. My Dad had a 24 Dodge Bros, rather advanced for a middle and upper middle Class Americans. The generator was the Starter and the shift pattern was backwards although I always hand started it, it always fired right up, even when it had varnish smelling old gas. My Dad said "I don't think you need to drain all that gas just to hear it run" I guess my grandpa used a T model to run a saw mill , they'd start it on gas and run it on kerosene, he said it wouldn't really rev, just kinda chug chugged and actually put out enough torque at 500 rpm to run the saw. Anyway, I'm sry I rambled on, I just love the Feelings I get when around or talking about old cars, it's like I'm transformed back and can picture them new. I usually modify old cars although I didn't modify my old Henry J, id thought about building a dragster but I honestly loved using it to run errands and my sons begged me to always take it.

If I wasn't finishing up my Jeep CJ-7 full four door and body extension. I would love to pick up the 33. Im currently working on the rear frame. 6" C channel is not the easiest to work with and it has slowed down the process considerably. But once finished it will be pretty unique. It has full fiberglass removable top. The doors are also removable and the split windshield still folds forward. It will make towing projects fun and you know how nice it is to have people come and start a conversation just by pulling in someplace. I honestly like the body of the Plymouth as it is. They really had a great eye for design. Looking at it past the patina. You can picture the way the light would play off the contours. The wedge would be a perfect power plant in that car. Just because of header drop. You have every option available from straight drop to side mount. So nice to have those options without changing the body mounting or the front suspension. I already was picturing what that engine would look like sitting in the cradle. The perfect balance of horse power and low center of gravity for performance. Shes one bad monkey just waiting for the love to bring her back to life. Thanks for sharing this find Chad. And that car you got is definitely worth building a real car from. Come on, how often do we get to build a car off of a model instaed of chopping up several modles to try and make it look like the car we built. And you have a showcase for your cars now. And Joeline wont give you any argument parking that in the living room 😅. Thanks for this video. Really appreciate seeing a beauty that just came out of storage.

My dad had a Plymouth coupe when he and my mother were first married ive only seen one in person as a young teenager and it was just a body no floors or frame I love thenody style I like the suicide doors and the fact that there is no visor over the windshield. It would make a wicked street car my all time favorite coupe would be the 33 Willys a all steel car would be awesome to find but I'd ĺove to have a fiber glass one also a 33 Willis with a angel chop is so fine looking 3 inches in front and 2 in the rear wow just so good looking

In 1955 I was working in gas stations and we had an old lady who came to us for service and she had a 33 Plymouth coupe just like yours. I always marveled at the stock look of that car because it looked like a "chopped" '32 Ford coupe. So I would say that roof has NOT been chopped --- it is stock.
