I am surprised they could just hold the straight edge by hand when the scribed the glass. Seems like it could slide on the glass unless it had a sticky rule. This only works on new glass. I have seen a torch flame used to melt the plastic layer.👍

If you’re not learning everyday you’re not pushing yourself. If you’re not pushing yourself you’re limiting yourself and your talent. Push yourself in the things that make you uncomfortable. Those who are truly gifted in any trade always push themselves in learning , challenging themselves and overcoming. Bellos Kustoms is a great example of always pushing themselves to accomplish the uncomfortable 👏.

I’ve watched every single most popular car builder on this planet work. Mike is the ONLY builder I’ve seen that does it all. Fabrication, upholstery, mechanics, body, paint, suspension, electrical, custom design, detailing, glass, exhaust, he’s the only builder I’ve seen to where I can easily say their is nothing he can’t do. He is my main influence in becoming a car builder for obvious reasons. Hands down the best content online for any gearhead. He definitely deserves tons more content on a waaaay more frequent basis. As it’s plain to see, no other builder comes close. Barris, Winfield, Rousell, Hines, Foose, Coddington, Hiltz, Casper, Alexander, Ayala… could never touch this man. And that’s undisputed fact. Serious respect and Admiration goes out to Bello’s Kustoms. 💯💯💯

Mike is def SUPER talented. I'll hold out on "all" until I see his pinstriping, engine building, and upholstery work. All the other names you mentioned built cars but through a business and that business is what they were good at as well. You see its just Mike and Catapilla and so he really has more in common with the average weekend builder and a buddy as like us he does it all himself---- its just he actually has TALENT whereas most folks don't but can't afford to pay others. You can tell he loves doing it or he would hire people and go sit in an office and get more business or push merchandise, or something other than put his hands on some fat fendered rod. I mean, who else has "1936 Ford" tattooed across both hands, right?👍

When cutting patterns with laminated glass when you score the first cut go ahead and from the bottom before you flip the glass and tap along the score line with the ball end of your cutter to make it follow the cut. Then flip the glass make your second cut and do the same thing it keeps from cracking like it was doing. To cut the plastic after both cuts put some denatured alcohol along the cut and light it for about 10 or 15 seconds and use a razor blade to cut the plastic it makes a much smoother cut with a lot less clean up afterwards. I've been cutting glass for over 30yrs years now and can tell you how to cut just about anything you want

When you score the glass you should immediately snap it,the process of scoring the glass causes the molecules of the glass to go into motion. Once the molecules stop moving it makes it more difficult to snap, and will cause a run out.

What still kills me is how you can get that fucking roofline so perfect just by looking at it and hammering out some metal. Damn. Anyhow, thanks for the tutorial on safety glass... all this time I thought it was black magic. Now I know I can do that shit easy! For gluing the bottom channel to those side windows, Google "glass setting tape". I used that stuff on my '25 Franklin side windows and hinged windshield and it works good. when I fucked up on one of the windows, it comes apart pretty easy with no cleanup required to re-set. Cheers, Jim

You can buy a metal handle for your glass cutter for a couple of dollars that will make it a lot easier to hold it. You also need some glass cutting pliers that have a curved top and bottom to help you 'break' the scoring line. Go to a stained glass shop and they can supply what you need to make your job a lot easier. A wet wheel grinder would be useful as well. As noted, visit a stained glass shop and you'll lean a lot in a few minutes.
