Here I review a 1938 brochure featuring Ford's brand new Fordson 10cwt (E83W) Van, a classic 1/2 ton van that was built between 1938 and 1957 with minimal changes throughout its production.
The E83W (initially badged as Fordson, later Thames) was Ford of Dagenham's 1/2 ton van offering both pre- and post-WW2. It utilised Ford's famous 1172cc sidevalve four-cylinder engine, coupled to a three-speed gearbox. Initially only 10cwt vans were offered, but soon after it would be possible to buy all manner of specially-bodied versions, including pickups, estate cars, builder's trucks, pig swill wagons, fire appliances and many many more. This first brochure solely features the van, but later E83W publications that I plan to share on KZbin describe these other variants.
If you're into your classic vans, please let me know in the comments. If you too are a fan of these compact Fords, again it'd be great to read your thoughts about the E83W. Please Like and Subscribe to catch future uploads (more Ford brochure reviews are planned), and also check out the existing videos now posted to the Old Classic Car channel. Thanks for watching.
