I came to know about Hotel Original Vinayaka Mylari while I was searching for the best restaurants in Mysore. It was written about the restaurant as "Vinayaka Mylari! One of the food icons in Mysore. This legendary place has been serving since 1938. It is one amongst the oldest hotels located in Mysore. This place serves amazing idlis, fantastic plane dosas, crispy masala dosa and kashi halwa..." by Bhavana Raghunath. Yes, she's right. The restaurant serves some of the best dosa varieties that I ever had in my life and idli was as fluffy and soft as pudding. If you are in Mysore, I suggest you include this restaurant on your list of best food spots in Mysore.

njn orupad masala dosa kazhichitundengilum my favourite masala dosa belongs to karnataka. Masala dosa from kerala and tamil nadu are much similar, but the dough used in karnataka differs from both, there is a kind of sweetness and sourness in dosa which makes it real special and also especially the masala dosa have a thicker base , the masala they spread on the dosa is also unique, they also use special red spicy paste which is also unique.

There are some real gems in Nazarbad. A particular mention should be made of Quereshi and Nasheman. You should have had the Kesari Bath at GTR as well. All these are best had on rainy mornings/ evenings. I have been wanting to try Simply Kodavas as well. I have not been to Mysore after 2016. The masala is called Sagu.

About 25 - 30 years Back we used to get small idlies . They been called as Putta Idly ( putta in Kannada means small ) . About quarter the size of today's idly . For Benne Dosa ( Butter dosa ) they were giving pure benne of local made . Filter coffee , Putta Idly , Benne Dosa in chilled Morning had heavenly taste .
