@@Coughing_Blood Considering that a magnet was used to get the counterweights out of the tumbler, we can assume that the counterweights are made out of iron , nickel, cobalt, or any alloy containing any of the aforementioned elements. My guess is either iron or steel. Lead is rarely alloyed with iron from what I can find, so probably not toxic in this case.

My grandma and grandpa own this exact kind of egg scale! I recognized it from the decal. It's still in pretty decent condition, though not nearly as pretty as your restoration! Yeah. Both ways are correct. If an item is very rare( like items found in ww1/ww2 or older) I agree with the fact of preservation. But a vice,a wrench,an old scale or just a level, these are not extremely rare and can be restored like was new. I not agree with modification. I mean, you have a bread cutter with wood boards and you replace with plastic because the plastic is more durable (was just an example)

Can you imagine the monotiny experienced by whoever used to use this to size hundreds if not thousands of eggs a day? Great restoration of an item that I' never even knew existed before seeing the one you have. Sandblasting clarity is definitely 10

Monotony describes a lot of farm work. I was a dairy farm kid in my teenage summers were a couple hours of milking cows each morning and evening and then 10 to 12 hours running a diesel tractor to mower bail hay which was incredibly boring work. We did eggs and broiler hens as a side business and had two manual scales. I think one may have been this design from very vague memories while the other was very different. We didn't much use them by the time I was a kid because a couple nearby poultry operations had expanded and upgraded their equipment, selling their old electric graders for cheap enough we could afford it and the repairs it needed. There's a video on KZbin of the model we had; look up "keenco egg grader." It was still an awful lot of manual work just a particular bit was automated to a degree.

@@DanielleWhite I'll had a look at that, wow, the metal parts and no breakages. thanks for pointing me to it. Worked underground myself and began there just sitting in a man-hole at the low point for weeks turning the Sykes water pump on when the water reached three feet, and off when it reached one....ohhh the days were long then but for completely different reasons that the reasons yours must have been. Eventually for to do 'proper' work when I was 'seasoned'.

What I love about some of these restoration channels is that the do lead tests. Like it just makes me real happy to see them being smart and safe. Edit: the sandblast is a 9. It's pretty darn clear but was some haziness. Still definitely clear enough to be satisfying and mostly unnoticeable.

Thank you very much Dylan for all this kind words. About sandblasting,I don’t seen a clarity of 10. Because inside is a lot of dust and sand 😅😅 what you seen there,is all I can do,is maximum from me. So,this means 9 will be maximum note 🤣
