I restored a 1946 Ford Woody and drove it as my main car for many years. I always regretted it not having a 4 speed gear box. Only having 3 speeds was very hard on those flat head V 8's which were actually very good engines. Thanks for the ride!

when you said it's a, "...1944 deluxe coupe." at the beginning of the video, it caught my attention as ford didn't make too many passenger cars in 1944. but i see from the title it's a 1940. would love to own one. and this looks like kind of one i'd like to own. v8, manual, three on the tree, lovely!

i see this car is now for sale at a nostalgia oriented used car businees in portland. is there anything more you can tell me about the car before i drive up there and take a look at it. for instance, there's very little to see in any video concerning the state of the engine and transmission. honestly, anything you can tell me about it would be appreciated. thanks

@@Cascadiaclassic yes i see...darn! i was so impressed with the undercarriage of the one you had up on BAT. but i see now that i jumped the gun.... i compared sparkplug wires and assumed that because they looked to be identical that it was the same car....figured what were the chances...i guess i shoulda noticed the engine bays weren't the same color, huh? BTW, what a deal the winner of THAT auction got!! eh? i may take a trip up to Portland anyway, as there is a '47-48 ford convertible at the same location too, which i am also interested in purchasing. thanks for you time. it's appreciated.

How do you know when to shift gears

Without a tachometer, you know when to shift based on the sound of the engine revving. When it gets high, and you feel that the power is maxed out, you shift to the next gear.
