🤔 Perfect timing for me to watch this video! Yesterday I bought a little mini-deep-fryer, similar to one of the ones I saw in a previous video of yours, when you were looking in The Factory shop. Mine was £23 from my local retail outlet. It’ll be christened today, using the tin of Spam in my cupboard and a few chips. (No bacon in the fridge at the moment though, so just a plain Spam fritter.) All your food videos are so appetising! 👍 😁

Only spotted and made these yesterday, (Sat 25th Feb). Absolutely stunning !!! Great find with that old cookery book. 👍📚 I also slightly thickened up the batter as suggested, and managed to get 7 × thick 'Spam' fritters from a 340g tin, and I used 'unsmoked' streaky bacon. So that's 'Spam' back on the shopping list then ... Thanks for another great, (as always), video. 😋👍

would an air fryer work?

I don't see why not Phil.
@cowgirl.43632 жыл бұрын
yes, I've done them that way, not quite as good, you have to put a good bit of oil in the pan. they're not bad. turn them over very quickly to set the batter on the upwards side, then back to first side to finish it off.

@SandraDent-lf4xy Жыл бұрын
You can't air fry runny batter, that's the only thing about air fryers. When i got mine i kept my chip pan because i like to do cod in my own batter. I usually try a few pieces and freeze them then reheat them in the air fryer, it works out well

It makes me wonder if the flour has changed over the years? Would the flour years ago absorb more liquid ? What makes a flour do that, no idea. I just know that when I make 3 loaves of bread sometimes I have to increase the flour, sometimes less. Same recipe, but my flour brand can change . I buy 20 lb bags. My husband eats a lot of bread unfortunately. (But slim)
