We love spam fritters and corned beef fritters too. My husband doesn't like the batter on these. We make them ourselves and have them with fried or new potatoes, and with loads of grated cheese on top.

Remember going out lunch times when at senior school in the late 60s to the local chip shop to get these. They used to sell 2 Spam fitters in batter with chips & mushy peas for around 4s 6d.😋😋

This one just turned up on my recommended page this morning, I don't think I've ever had spam fritters before but I imagine they would be great with chips or mashed potato and mushy peas, I think some chip shops do them but spam is actually really popular in South Korea too they often dunk it in egg and fry it then serve it with kimchi which is like fermented cabbage in chilli paste type stuff, no also lots of rice and noodle dishes over there, they love their spice over there most dishes have some form of chilli paste in them xxx

Hi Gareth, they don't look too bad at all them! When we had them at school dinners though they were horrid....they were always fried and swimming in grease, so we would go for the meat and gristle pie (as we would refer to it) rather than have the fritter lol! When my son was little I would buy a tin of spam and grill slices to have with eggs and toast for breakfast...couldn't afford bacon back then and this was a cheap alternative.

Although we had a staff canteen which served up decent "cheap" grub, myself and a workmate used to go to a small Italian run Cafe in Lower Marsh (runs alongside the Stn.) at least once a week, and we used to have these regularly with chips.....God! how I miss the way they did them....absolutely scrummy!! They also did what was called "Vienna steak" Heaven knows what was in them, but they tasted great.....always made us laugh after taking our order, we could hear her shouting to the cook in a thick Italian accent.......Vienna steak anna chip two time-ah.
