I have wanted to dance since I was about 6 like this! I was raised on Roy Rogers, Dale Evens and other old movies. Silver screen and technicolor is the best ever! I don't even know where you could learn that. My 2 sisters and I did learn how to square dance about 4ish years ago. But sadly after a year our club was closed due to it being to small to even make a regular attendance of 8. The older folks go where getting older and young people think they are to good for it. (I am a youngin myself) only have dance a few times since because the next club in almost 2 hours away (so there are 2 closer but the towns and area they are in aren't that safe at night, especially for young ladies by themselves. The one town somebody is shot almost everyday) and in a timezone 1 hour behind us. But it was so nice people came from the other clubs would come to help us, until it was just getting to draining to go that far every week. Our Father had a stroke and this was our way to leave our worries and just be free for a hour. Our Mom insisted that we still go and have fun. I think that is why people came, knowing that was our escape and the only fun we had. We have older parents, and where homeschooled, so we where raise with a taste of the late '20s-early 60's. I have always been grateful and happy. I know I would have enjoyed it anyway. To me the perfect time was around 1955ish. If I could just take a few modern things with me and of course those that I love and my pets. I would be willing to go back.

I am now 60, and have been dancing this type of dance since 40 years back in time, and so I've followed the development of this type of dance and also have looked at thousands of original clips dating back to the times of the invention of the dance, and I at once understood that this was at present time, such a big difference. The only thing which looks some better original in this movie, is the clothing of the supposed yankie sailor and his gal. But okay, I'll still give the clip a medium rating, as my own dancing isn't original style at all, if anyone would care to seach for some of the very few dance clips I've put out to view.

I wish this still existed. They have (had) a "re-creation" of the old WW2 USO dances at the Natl WW2 Museum in New Orleans once or twice a month. A step back to a simpler, happier, and more peaceful time...if only momentarily. Too bad my parents didn't live to see the WW2 Museum. They met at a USO dance in 1942 & were married 42 years, and taught me to dance to these tunes. No USO - dances for me. Just an abandoned USO counter in the Pittsburgh airport. I was robbed !
@smitajky4 жыл бұрын
A happier and more peaceful time? I don't know where you lived. Food shortages. Lists of the dead each day. Bombardment and the threat of invasion. Blackouts. Curfews. No petrol if you even had a vehicle that wasn't commandeered. Everything the opposite of happy. "There'll be blue birds over, the white cliffs of Dover, tomorrow, just you wait and see". Hoping and praying for a better tomorrow. Which we now enjoy. Any flaws are entirely of our own making.
@baronedipiemonte39904 жыл бұрын

Well it was filmed in 2015 & at brooklands which is an old motor racing circuit ( from the 1930's i think ) with steep banking which is still there today ,brooky holds a number of events mainly to do with cars & bikes but this might have been a 1940's themed event with ww2 cars & lorrys
