Egads! I felt bad about the crack on my O-18 until I saw this one! I just ran across your channel on my way elsewhere, so I’ve subscribed and I will be back tomorrow to watch the balance of this, and see what else you have! Till then!

They introduced the HD-28, finally utilizing the old pre-war D-28 specs, in 1976. I own two...a '76 that stays home, and a 2006 that I gig with. Great guitar.

Oh wow. As a Martin fan and owner of a (somewhat newer) HD-28, this one got my attention. Nice work!

So glad to see you using hot hide glue for this fine vintage guitar. I can't agree more with your views on Titebond, it's not something that I ever use for building/ repairing guitars. One of the most over looked aspect of using hide glue is the transference of vibration/sound between pieces of wood (especially on an acoustic top). Hide glue dries extremely hard, where as titebond reminds me of rubber cement. It dries but still remains soft and is more of a sound deadener then anything. The other over looked aspect of hide glue its 100% reversible. Nice repair job! One other thing, nice "10 years after" riff...

Preach it! Nice job! You need one of those credit card checkout things with a box for a recommended Tip based as a percentage of the new value. Loving the last string of jobs!

I completely agree with the choice of glue. Fish glue and hide glue are the best for top cracks. Even side and back cracks, if small. There are places for using white or yellow wood glue,PVA style, but not the tops. And yes, once you use PVA style glue, you can't go back. Great job.

I Love titebond on the top for 1" to 5" cracks...anyone can fix a crack with a couple magnets, suction cup, and wax paper. Takes 10 minutes...wipes off clean for the excess. If it lasts a year I do it again. Mine last well if I also cleat the inside with wood and super glue. Stabalizes it. Then again if it lets go...can do it again in ten minutes...but it lasts a good long time.

Boy, this is the place if a guitar like this one needs some real love, not some quick and dirty schlock pseudo repair as seen from Martin theirself! Once ALL repair people get on board with HHG, they should realize their work will go more quickly and efficiently, provided their Ts are crossed and their Is are dotted. It kinda makes a person more efficient by default.
