As the Cart full of Soviet Troops go to return home. Some injured and some not. Some will never meet again. Some might become friends after the demobilization. Some might stay in the army. Some might go on a vacation. Some might live peacefully . But all soldiers in this cart have one thing in common. They've all survived the war and will get to return home. Once Again.

Enemies burned down his native hut, They killed his whole family. Where can a soldier go now? Who should bear his sorrow? The soldier went in deep grief To the crossroads of two roads, The soldier found in a wide field A grassy knoll. The soldier stood there, and it was like lumps Stuck in his throat. Said the soldier: ‘Meet, Praskovya, Your husband, your hero. Prepare a feast for your guest, Set a wide table in the hut. ‘My day, my holiday of return. To you I've come to celebrate...’ No one answered the soldier, No one met him, And only the warm summer wind Swayed the grass of the grave. The soldier sighed, adjusted his belt, Opened his sack, He put the bitter bottle On the grey stone of his coffin. ‘Don't judge me, Praskovya, ‘That I came to you like this: ‘I wanted to drink to your health, But I must drink to my rest. ‘Friends and girlfriends will meet again, But we'll never meet again...’ And the soldier drank from a copper cup. ‘Wine and sorrow. He drank - a soldier, a servant of the people, And with pain in his heart he said: ‘I've been coming to you for four years, I have conquered three powers...’ As the soldier got drunk, a tear rolled down his face, A tear of unfulfilled hope And on his breast glowed The medal for the city of Budapest. Thank you to all the soldiers of the Second World War for fighting for our future. Thank you to my great-grandfather who reached Budapest...

In 1945, the war's final cry, The Soviets moved, with a world-weary sigh. Demobilization began, a somber decree, Gondolas grounded, lost to history. On the Neva's edge, where waters once sang, The gondolas now idle, their silence a pang. Crafts of elegance, carved with care, Now ghosts of joy, in the war-torn air. The gondoliers, their hands worn thin, Lay down their oars, a heavy sin. No more serenades in the moon’s soft light, Only echoes of peace lost in the night. Their eyes, once bright with tales to tell, Now dimmed with shadows of a long farewell. Each boat a vessel of dreams and grace, Now rests in the twilight, a forgotten place. Through battles fierce and nights of dread, They ferried whispers of the unsaid. Lovers' promises, secrets exchanged, Now drift in memory, forever changed. The war had ended, yet left behind, A deeper wound, a scar unkind. The world rejoiced, but hearts were torn, As gondolas faded, lives left to mourn. Once, on nights beneath a tranquil sky, They glided soft, where swans would fly. But now the waters, cold and still, Reflect the loss, the aching chill. Oars once dipped in rhythmic beat, Now lie abandoned, in quiet defeat. The songs of the Neva, hushed and faint, A silent requiem, a sorrowful plaint. Old men gather, their spirits worn, By memories of a world reborn. They speak of times before the war, When gondolas glided, and life was more. They tell of nights with stars so bright, And how the boats danced in the gentle light. But now, those tales are all that's left, In a city of memories, heart bereft. Each plank of wood, each crafted bow, A testament to what was lost now. Lives intertwined with the river's flow, Now drift apart, in grief and woe. The demobilization, a decree so cold, An end to stories never told. Gondolas stripped of their noble flight, Left to decay, in the fading light. In the hearts of those who remember still, The gondolas' absence leaves a bitter chill. A part of their soul, a piece of their past, Lost to the war, too deep to outlast. As time moves on, and waters change, The loss remains, a silent exchange. For every boat that’s left to die, A fragment of history, a mournful sigh. In the twilight of an era’s close, The pain of loss in each heart grows. The gondoliers, with tears unshown, Grieve for a life that’s overthrown. And so they sit, by the water’s edge, Whispering vows, a sorrowful pledge. To keep alive, through pain and tears, The memory of the gondoliers. In 1945, the peace was won, But at a cost, too great for some. The gondolas, symbols of joy and art, Now linger only in the aching heart. Their legacy, a haunting refrain, Of beauty lost, and enduring pain. For every wave that licks the shore, Tells of a time that is no more. And in the quiet, where the river sighs, A ghostly fleet in the heart’s eyes. The gondolas, though gone from sight, Live on in sorrow, through endless night.

My grand grand father served in ww2 too. In his life he already witnessed and became victim of holodomor and it gave him such a huge PTSD at the young age that he kept placing food in a home that way as if he could immediately hide it from soviets if they ever came to take it again. He never told much about the war, he defenitly hated it and became much more religious when he came back even though he was son of the priest, but before he passed away in 1993 he told my dad couple of stories one of which is his first battle, he told that commander forced them to drink "100 grams of People's Commissar's" Very strong vodka so he wouldn't feels pain and would fighth more bravery, yep Soviets used vodka instead of the meth and other drugs, i know it might sound stereotypical, feels free to say that I'm lying but this is how it was. And that strong vodka was doing damn well as replacement for all this fashion drugs Nazis used, Grand grand das told that he remembers only second half of the battle He wasn't even sure if he killed somebody, but his bayonet was in blood a little, so he probably did
@ДаниилКоролев-я7м7 ай бұрын
Vodka cannot work as well as strong combat drugs. Especially in such a tiny concentration. 100 grams will only reduce fear, no more. Yes, and disinfect the stomach just a little. Your grandfather does not remember the first part of the battle, because he acted automatically, he was controlled by instincts. Everyone does this in their first fight.

I was in the first trench with him and a few others. Germans were preparing an assault, and we started firing. Then, we saw him. He wasn't here, not with us. He was home, dancing with his wife. All around, it was just noise and flash for him. We left him with some ammo, and went back to the second trench. He danced with her until midnight, and then, he was gone, not to see her or his oldest son again.

They are finally returning from the war... The general happiness from the end of this horror, however, is not able to overshadow the atmosphere in this gray, dull and quiet carriage, where the heroes are traveling like cucumbers stuffed into a jar. Some mumble, some wheeze, some happily tell stories, some quietly play their favorite guitar. The spirit in the carriage reeked of fatigue. Is this really it, this is the end?... Everyone gave a piece of themselves in this war. Who at what cost? Ordinary guys who, without sparing themselves, were able to achieve victory. Nobody gave them a choice. Nobody asked them what they wanted. They went to fight for what they considered sacred. Some are the luckiest. A home awaited them, family warmth and peace from the war. They found themselves, they got to know themselves in a new life and acclimatized. Their suffering remained there, somewhere far away at the front. Others were less fortunate. Terribly battered by the war, still young people, turned gray and did not look like they were alive. They were no longer capable of life in the rear. They remained in that war, among their fallen comrades. Who will scream in a nightmare: “Why them, and not me! I should have died!”, and who will quietly shake in the corner at the slightest mention of that war. The bravest ones, who have lost everything, return home battle-hurt. Those who are lucky will return home to their family, to the raspberry scent of their native town, where there are those to whom they are still important. Where there are those who are ready to nurse them, their crippled bodies and souls. Other heroes are doomed to beg on the sidewalks. Koba prepared a special circle of hell as a gratitude to the “samovars” and other war crippled both spiritually and physically, homeless and abandoned heroes of terrible battles who gave themselves for the sake of victory. Cold bunks are prepared for them, away from human gaze. “So as not to spoil the appearance of the streets.” The war rumbled not only through the streets, but also into the minds of people. The very essence of man has changed, it has become different, as if life began to be divided into “before” and “after”. Veterans don't like to talk about the war. It is a pain. Burden. Suffering. Not all of them returned from the war...

To be entirely honest, things seem to be both hopeful and lost at the same time, outside of KZbin it seems Countryballs are slowly dying and on KZbin they are increasingly falling victim to greed, content being made with nothing but income in mind. However, there are plenty of great creators that are still keeping the light alive.
