Can you use a 52-54 door handle in place of a 50 chev door so you can have a push to open handle.
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV2 жыл бұрын
The short answer is NO. The bracing inside the door is different as well as the linkage to the latch mechanism so it isn't as simple as just switching the handle.

Brothers, how about a how-to on replacing rusty door hinge areas on the door metal of a late 60s-early 70s truck? Mine need attention, causes issues with door alignment. Thanks!

Hi, I have a 1983 GMC K1500. The current locks will not rotate with the interior lock knob. This is happening with both the door locks. I cannot engage or disengage the cylinder pulling up or down on the knob. On the exterior and the key inserted, I can rotate the cylinder to engage the locks, but I cannot pull the key back out in this position. I have to rotate key back the to resting or open position to pull the key out...which is counter-initiative because this re-unlocks the door. I removed the cylinders from the doors to test the linkages on the inside for the lock and hook. I can actuate the lock linkages with freedom and they had full range. They also correctly engage the door latching (hook) mechanism and will not allow the door to release from the striker (thus showing me this side works properly, seemingly anyways). I have tried to install two different brands of the same model lock cylinders, however, the exact same issues occurs. So, I'm confused as to what I am missing or doing wrong to fix this. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Hey Guys, I have a 72 GMC K10 4x4. I ordered a gas cap from you guys ( and a few other vendors ) and NONE of them fit. Any help would be appreciated. I also ordered a full LED running light kit, and they are fantastic! Keep up the great content

Give us some more info on why it doesn't fit? It's too deep, too shallow, to big around? We have a '70 and a '72 4x4 here at the shop and can probably figure this out pretty quickly.

@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV either the cap latch is too big and won’t fit in or the cap will fit but won’t latch securely to the fill tube

I have a 52 Chevy pickup. The problem that I have is that I don’t have no keys at all.. is there any way that I can remove or replace the ignition switch?
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you'll need to break the ignition switch trim off the front so you can remove the retainer.

I have no keys. My 1962 GMC Truck was delivered without the keys. How do you remove the ignition switch without a key?
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV3 жыл бұрын
You pretty much have to destroy the tumbler by removing the stainless trim on the front. You should be able to get the bezel off the switch after that.

The problem I found was, the glovebox lock didn't fully disengage enough to open the box. I had to swap it back out with the original style
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV3 жыл бұрын
We don't see that with our locks, but we've seen other reproductions that do that and it can normally be fixed by adjusting the striker.

@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV3 жыл бұрын
@@notpabloescobar2475 When you say it's loose, you mean when you install it you can't tighten it enough? That's really all we can think might happen and that's usually because you haven't installed the rubber gasket under the lock.
