If the floors and the frame are too far gone to ever be restored maybe that ones a candidate for a coat of oil or something just to protect what sheetmetal remains 😂

My dad bought a '48 in 1954. The nicest car he ever had to that point. It was white. In the space of the first 2 weeks, his 4 year old (me) branded the wood glove box door about 8 or 9 times with the cigarette lighter, and our dog chewed all of the upholstery from the top of the rear seat at the package shelf. I can still clearly remember that day, and we laughed about it a few years before he died. He was the best dad.

Scott, as my dad used to say "Chrysler, what a car!" It begs for a will it run! If you could sort the linkage Fluid Drive was a treat to drive. No need to declutch at lights and though it's been more than 50 years since I drove a 50 Dodge with Fluid Drive I seem to remember no clutch for up shifts. It worked very much like the early Bug "automatic". Great to see Frankers "sticking" around through the whole show! Tom killed your G rating in less than 60 secs this episode! Tom never fails to provide "color" commentary! Speaking of human rust I was 6 when that Mopar rolled off the line! High desert Cheers all around!

There was a local car graveyard I discovered in the late Seventies. The guys never sold anything until the Government forced the owner to auction off cars and crush the rest. There was a bright green Chrysler exactly like this one. It was auctionned off for an amazing amount. Those vehicles make sensational yard art. They even sold a second one that had been under a roof and was in better condition. Guess what: the mossy, crunchy one with a damaged rear axle sold for more than the good one. Every one familiar with the yard had seen this green monster sitting in the same spot for nearly fifty years and longed to own it.

A dear departed friend of mine had one of these with the front sub frame of a Chrysler New Yorker under it with a 440 V8 and a torqueflite. It drove really well. That was probably 25 years ago.

When I was in HS, I would ride my bike several miles to visit this elderly fellow who had a fleet of 47-48 Chryslers and also a 1932 Lincoln. He had been an aeronautical engineer in ww2, and I could listen to his stories all day. He taught me quite a bit (as do you guys regarding bodywork). He bought a surplus quonset hut and lived in it - all the walls inside were squared off. Today his property was sold and turned into a subdivision under his sir name in Woodbridge VA.

Those year Chryslers had beautiful dashboards and their 6cyl engines were practically indestructible. I've never been much of a Mopar fan but have two of them, a 1926 Chrysle 70 and a 1949 Plymouth, so I guess I like them more than I thought. I would definitely love to see you get her running!
