Over here in the states, we call that carburetor an updraft. You may already know this but if you lose any compression from the rings, valves or just a bad casket. It will not start. But you got it to running and that's what counts. Good job.

The tap on the bottom of the float chamber is for draining the carb on the models with petrol paraffin

Nice one Roy. great job getting it running. Just be careful of you thumb when starting it as it could kick back and break ya thumb. When I've seen people start these engines before they have their thumb next to their fingers and sort of cup the starter in their palm.
@roystheboy5 жыл бұрын
ok thank you for that I will remember it

Well done roy when you use the starting handle please don't put your thumb round the handle put your thumb over the top or if it kicks back it could bust your thumb

@cbullar42054 жыл бұрын
I know its abit late but it should be set to between 1.5 and 2 turns, trying to stick to the lower. Any more then 2 turns will let to much fuel through and it will run out the bottom as seen, engine will also be running very rich and smokey.
@roystheboy4 жыл бұрын
thank you I still haven't finished the engine yet so will keep that in mind

@BigAdam20504 жыл бұрын
So the hole, I think thats to stop the air filter filling up with fuel when the engine misses. So it dribbled out the bottom.
@davidyoung66085 жыл бұрын
Great job on getting that engine up and running. Do you know what that particular engine was use for?
@roystheboy5 жыл бұрын
I would say it was used on a farm really
@l.capewell79703 жыл бұрын
@@roystheboy yup, for sure. I have one of these. I bought mine 2 years ago and it was basically rotten. It had chicken poop in the flywheel guard, so had obviously been on a farm.

If you plan to sell it, Don't paint it. Most collectors prefer to do it themselves. That's the way it is over here anyway.

That was only a part of the Restoration, as for the points that was the first time doing one of those mags and I got the machine to run before I do a full Restoration, and by the way I dont ride bikes
