In the first WYR I’ll take the Plymouth due to the design and that wonderful dashboard, can’t even imagine what Chrysler did for the top of the line town and country and for the second WYR I’ll take the Pontiac due to the great design those fenders are beautiful and hopefully it’s a straight 8 , thanks Jay keep up the good work you’ve came a long way buddy and I’m happy for you and we got to enjoy your great videos 👍

A video that I had to watch because when I was just a tot in the early 1960's my family lived in Falls Church, Virginia and rented a one story home for a couple of years. The owners would frequently drop by and the wife had a 1953 Plymouth whilst the husband had a 1946-'48 Plymouth. My parents had a 1949 dark green four-door Plymouth. I really liked the early post war Plymouth, which was offered to the public up until March of 1949 and still sold well. However, for WYR I will go with the Ford Woody and the Pontiac Woody, but the Plymouth Woody comes in a close second on both scenarios. A truly great looking wagon, and I'm glad that I watched the video all the way through!

What a beauty! I can't imagine 1) How anyone would think having wood be between you and another car slamming into you was a good idea and 2) the amount of wormanship in said wood. Can you imagine how much that kind of artistry would cost now days? Gorgeous, gorgeous car! WYR: 1) Ford 2) Plymouth

Great choices they made these out of wood, because steel shortages from the war. They wanted to make wagons, but they didn’t have enough steel to make wagons so they built them out of wood. I might do the history lesson on the Woody wagon that will be totally different than how Earl covered it.

Surprised you didn't mention the "ship" emblem that Plymouth used for years! The ship emblem harkened back to the Mayflower, since the car was named Plymouth, as in Plymouth Rock. I would love to have a hubcap with that Mayflower emblem on it! Look at the quality of those interior materials, even in a lowly Plymouth!!! WYR! 1. Plymouth, of course! 2. Ohhh, that Poncho sure is pretty!

That car brought back soooo many memories. My favorite uncle had a 4 door sedan of that type and had it well into the 50’s . EverySunday he would take me for a malted and pretzel when he went for the paper . As there were no seatbelts and I was small I stood up next to him as he drove with my arm around his shoulder . I remember the look of the dash vividly .

"Painted to look like whitewalls" is an understatement -- they fooled me just the same, even *nearly 80 years after this car was assembled.* Had you not mentioned it, I wouldn't have known! Good job, to the designers and painters at Plymouth in the 1940's, I guess! I've always wanted a Woody, but wood can be difficult to preserve in damp climates like the Pacific Northwest. I just realized, I suppose taking a woody to the beach to go surfing wouldn't be a great idea, in regard to preservation . . . I think I'd rather have a Willys Wagon, because if I get a true woody, I think it should be a convertible, to encourage me to keep it inside during questionable weather 😉 Great video Jay!

I was really impressed by the wheels and I didn’t notice it until editing the video I was like those are steel almost like rings but not beauty rings I never saw anything like it. That was the last car that I shot the last time I went to classic auto Mall. I did like 15 cars that day it was like 930 at night. I didn’t get home until 3 o’clock in the morning when I go there. It’s generally a 23 hour day. I just got back from there that’s why comment is a little later than usual I just did the trip to the day before yesterday and it took a lot out of me yesterday I slept pretty much the whole day. I don’t know why that was the worst trip as far as sleep goes. I got to see a lot of stuff I didn’t get home until 6:30 in the morning the next day because I decided to pull off the road somewhere safe to sleep for a little bit 15 minute nap turned in the three hours.. but eh it was worth it tonight episode engine episode hopefully tonight if it’s not today, will do a double feature tomorrow Wisconsin engine manufacturing company Tomorrow I think it’s going to be 77 Chrysler Cordobra and I’ll admit I got a little bit emotional because when I was in high school or right after high school, I wanted nothing more than a more than Cordoba I thought those cars were absolutely awesome. I did come close to buying one but I was in my 20s and I wasn’t that impressed with the 318 so I never ended up buying one. This one has the Corinthian leather the 400 it would’ve been the car that I really wanted and it was really cool.

This car when new could cruise at 60-65 mph on a highway if need be, although it would be more comfortable at 55-60 mph. Anything above 70 mph would start to strain the engine...tops out at a speedometer-indicated 82 mph, according to someone my grandfather knew who had a 1948 Plymouth sedan.
@geebs765 ай бұрын
Back in the 1970's I had a buddy who had a 1949 Plymouth sedan. This was very similar but the dash was different and the radio didn't look nearly as cool. It was a lot of fun to drive around in. I don't recall seeing a spare tire placed behind the driver before. I'd choose the 1947 Ford Woody Wagon for the V8 and the 1947 Pontiac Streamliner Woody Wagon which I think looks super cool. I think the Pontiac would make a good episode if you ever run across one.

Scenario 1) Ford (surprise); Scenario 2) Pontiac. My grandpa had a gray 1941 Plymouth coupe. The clutch stuck on it, so they tied a rope around it and would pull the rope when the clutch stuck. My mom loved to tell the story of the time she and her cousin borrowed the Plymouth to take it to a nearby town for a shopping trip. Along the drive the clutch stuck, and the car slowed to a stop … not far from a soldier who was hitchhiking. Busy talking and not noticing the soldier - who started to run toward the stopped Plymouth - my mom pulled the rope tied to the clutch, and the Plymouth jerked into motion and sped off. Only then did my mom notice the soldier in the rear view mirror. She and her cousin laughed all the way to town and back … and she laughed her beautiful laugh every time she told that story for the rest of her life. It was also used as an example of why she never wanted a Plymouth.

Forgot to add something about the cars! I really like the 1940-48 Plymouth models! My Mother's first car was a used 1946-48 Super DeLuxe Sedan. It was green. Mom wanted to have a car to drive because they lived kind of far out in the country then, and Dad had the family vehicle to go to work. So Mom got the Plymouth and learned to drive. Dad put two 55 gallon drums out in front of the house and Mom practiced parallel parking between them! Can you imagine? A little 5 foot two lady steering that Plymouth without power brakes OR steering! She told me she loved that little(!) car. There was a very nice 2dr sedan version at our local car show a while back and it was really clean! It was green, too! WYR. . .Just give me ALL of them!!
