Day 75 of '75 Days of Partition' - Season Finale! In today’s session, we discuss the subaltern history of the subcontinent as we interview Partition survivor, Krishan Kumar and Professor Gyanendra Pandey. Professor Pandey’s research on Partition has led him to unconventional methods that reframe the narrative. The series will end with a beautiful performance by Bhai Baldeep Singh. Join us for the final discussions.

KRISHAN KUMAR: My Partition journey from Lodhran to Ghaziabad
Krishan Kumar migrated to India as a young boy. His passion and hard work led him to become the co-founder of Mohan Fibre Products Limited. The factory helped to improve yields and returns for millions of farmers across India by reducing wastage and damage of produce. He is now retired and spends his time following his passions of art collecting and mentoring the youth. Today, he will be discussing his scars from 1947 and his journey since then.

GYANENDRA PANDEY: The nuances of handling subaltern histories
Professor Gyanendra Pandey is a Professor at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. He is a founding member of the Subaltern Studies Group. His book, ‘Remembering Partition,’ focuses on the colonial and postcolonial history of South Asia through a subaltern lens, also known as, history from below. In this episode, Professor Pandey will be talking about his journey as a historian and his unconventional methods of working on the Partition.

BHAI BALDEEP SINGH: A Music Performance
A direct descendant of Guru Bābā Nanak’s disciple Bhai Sadhāraṇ, Bhai Baldeep Singh is the 13th generation of a long lineage of GurSikh masters. His repertoire includes masterpieces that were first composed by the Sikh Gurus and the Bhagats. He is also the prime exponent (khalifā) of the oldest gharāna of classical percussions and pakhāwaj/mridang. Today, he will be performing at the finale of the series.

About 75 DAYS OF PARTITION-------
Live daily micro interviews that begin on June 3rd, 2022, a day which marks the 75th anniversary of the Mountbatten Partition Plan and ends on August 17th, a day on which the boundary commission announced the Radcliffe Line's location. The short and quick micro interviews will feature historians, artists, authors and practitioners working to uncover 20th century South Asian history, especially in how it relates to Partition.
