I was a very social child, I was pretty popular at school too because I could easily hold a conversation with anyone and got along with everyone. As I got older I sort of lost that social ability. I'm not anti social, I can talk to people. Indeed I find it easier talking to strangers than some family members! But I'm working on getting my old social skills back and thankfully I succeeded. How? The only way I can explain it is: Learn not to care, learn not to be nervous, learn not to be afraid of silences and just let conversations flow naturally. Humans are social creatures, just let it come naturally. You are what you imagine yourself to be, so imagine yourself as social and talkative.

it will come, don't worry. Its also important not to blame social awkwardness only on yourself, it could be the other person who has the social issue and not you. It takes two to have a conversation. Your certainly not alone, every single person alive has had social awkwardness in their lives, everyone, from celebrities to politicians, everyone!

What I love about this is that she didn't target an audience with the mindset that they were insufficient in some way to explain their difficulties communicating with strangers. She just focused on teaching how to converse from the perspective of making it better no matter what your background. That demonstrates a high level of emotional intelligence.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 📚 Conversations are like links that form a World Wide Web connecting us to strangers. They define who we are as a human race. 02:20 🗣️ Starting a conversation with a stranger requires enthusiasm, positivity, and a simple greeting like "Hi" or "Hello." 03:26 💬 Skip small talk and ask personal questions to create a deeper connection with the other person. 06:42 😄 Pay unique and genuine compliments instead of using common words that people have become immune to. 08:47 🤝 Find common ground with the other person to make them feel comfortable and engaged in the conversation. 10:23 🤔 Ask for the other person's opinion on something generic to open up a two-way street of communication. 12:01 👀 Be fully present and make eye contact to establish a deeper connection and show genuine interest in the conversation. 13:01 📝 Remember and use the other person's name and other details about them to show care and investment in the conversation. Things I learnt from this:- 1. Just ask questions what you want. What's the worst thing can happen? 2. Skip small talk and ask personal questions (you will be surprised how much people are willing to share if you ask them) 3. Find the "me too"s 4. Give a compliment (mostly on what thinks they give efforts in for example makeup) 5. Listen to their answers and add your opinion or thoughts about it. 6. Make eye contact (see one eye at a time and move the the other afterwards) 7. After they say their name say their name (for example - hi paul!)

9:31 I came to this video after watching a shorts consisting of this part. And must say, YOU REALLY DID A GREAT JOB BRINGING THIS UP cuz believe me, today, almost everyone gives compliments without even meaning them. We must start to admire people for their real beauties (not just the external beauty but the real beauties too) with complete honesty. Thanks for bringing this up. Really appreciated.
@ILoveSoImAlive
@ILoveSoImAlive 9 ай бұрын
to be able to admire something you have to be able to see it first. to be able to see it, you have to know it. to know it, you have to invest time in it. to invest time in it, you have to know its value for your surroundings. if your surroundings value other things, you will not know it, you will not see it, you will not be able to admire it. thats what the culture is for. thats what goes lost today, especially in western society, where only competition is (over)valued. but this overvalue of competition from surroundings is indoctrination, for that people do not work together because that would make them solve their problems in small circle, and they wouldnt need to buy solutions from someone less known to them. that would be bad for busines. so overrating of competition is actually overrating of money and money system. we are ready to suffer just to stick to this system, where the money system should not be ideologically thing for the sake of itself, but should service people more than it burdens them. competition is a good thing, but like everything else, its best if it has own place and time and doesnt occupy place and time of things, which would fit there better. it is really unlikely, that this problem will be solved anytime soon. so we will have to live with the problem, that there is not so much of real admiration seen, felt, lived. and for that time most people will admire more things, you dont want them to admire, like how you can allow yourself to talk from above to a lot of people, because of your position, or admire your money, you got from other people in this sometimes sensless competition.

She is proof of what she preaches. When she first comes on stage, I thought her pretty but her bubbly personality came out, and the longer she spoke the more attractive she becomes. Not surprised at the taxi driver"s proposal.

Bubbly personality? I would love to see how she respond to someone who she runs into who is really boring and always complains and tells the same story over and over again. I would love to know how she would handle that business. The more attractive and wealthy you become, the harder it gets to have a deep conversation with everybody.

I recommend watching through the whole thing, but. 1. First word floodgates (3:33) "Once you've said the first word, everything just flows." 2. Skip the small talk. (5:20) Ask personal questions. Be bold, and you might be surprised how much someone might share. Asking about family might help elicit response. The lady gives a neat tip, and a neat story at (6:27) 3. Me - too's (7:34) Don't start with negatives. Start the conversation on the same side. 4. Pay a unique compliment. (8:45) Someone may forget what you say or how you look, but they would never forget how you made them feel. There are words and compliments that people are immune to. Avoid them and pay a genuine, unique compliment. 5. Ask for an opinion. (10:19) Ask generic questions like "what's your last movie and how did you find it?" instead of "what do you think about how this affects the oil prices?" That is the difference between generic conversations and exam questions. And when someone gives you an opinion, really listen; listen to listen, don't listen to reply. 6. Be present. (11:40) Don't look at your phone etc. Make eye contact. You literally feel the conversation. 7. Name, place, animal, thing (12:42) Remember their name. It's really important. Say it back to them. Places they want to go to. Their pets names, their children's names.

How to establish connections with people through conversation (not necessarily just with strangers): 1. Dare to begin, dare to say the first words 2. Skip small talks, focus on what's really interesting 3. Draw on the common ground 4. Make genuine unique compliments 5. Get people to share what they think about something, listen to listen 6. Don't multitask, be there, be in the conversation 7. Remember what you two talked about **1st big takeaway: "people can forget what you say, what you do, but they will never forget how you make them feel" **2nd big takeaway: look at them in the eye **3rd big takeaway: every person is a really good book, you just have to figure out which to read next instead of only skimming the titles

Humans are naturally social: we've spent thousands and thousands of years becoming good at making connections. If you, like me, are nervous to talk to someone, and you're nervous that you're not going to do it "right" remember, we evolved just for this! It's in our bones. The awkward part is step 2, where she is suggesting you just ask people random questions. Do you like lizards!?!??! What's your favorite color??? Dogs or cats? What's your deepest life goal??! That just seems so childish to me. And awkward that they are just fishing for some kind of connection, it's borderline obsessive. Especially if this conversation is happening at the water cooler or printer. There are special situations where interviewing someone is not awkward, but not every day.

You care too much about "awkward". Every new conversation with a stranger is awkward, embrace it.

Slimecrazy234 These comments are funny, but really that doesn't make any sense. On the other hand, it's often harder to talk to an attractive person without being nervous.

That's true, it's easier to start a conversation if you are good looking on the outside.

More likely, is that you tried hard to accomplished something from a talk with an attractive person yet you failed . then it is useless to do so, try talking to a nice yet unattractive . yet i'm too young for this 13 yrs old .

It may be easier for if you're attractive, but the other person can be very nervous.

As a pretty lonely person who’s wanted to befriend people but can’t get the courage to walk up someone and start a conversation I’ll use the tips and just hearing the examples makes me feel slightly more confident.

Summary of 7 ways to MAKE A GOOD CONVERSATION WITH ANYONE : - 1. The word flood gate- Don't think too much before starting conversation with strangers. Whenever get a chance, just start with simple Hi/hey/hello. Everything will come out and flow with the very first word. This can crate a chance to start a good conversation. In worst scenario, stranger won't talk which is the same situation as it was before the first word. 2. Skip the small talk- Don't waste too starting times with the same boring and usual questions. Have something new and personal type thing. Poeple have many things to talk and share. They need a listener. 3. Find the Me-toos (similar/ common things)- People will feel more connected if both have something common to do/interest/thinking and so on. 4. Pay the Unique compliments- Compliments must be genuine, attractive and interesting which is not common for everyday and told by everyone. 5. Ask for the opinion- Everyone have many opinions on everything. All are ready to spell out of they get chance. Topic for opinions shouldn't be informative, bookish, interview type and boring. 6. Be present heartedly (physically, mentally & 100% involved)- Pour full heart in the conversation with good eye contact for effectiveness. 7. Name, place, animal, thing- remember some personal information for next conversation.
