We had these in the military, right up to their end- good rigs.

My dad had a twin screw mid 50's Brockway. Green, hot and nasty. He pulled a 40 ft. flatbed or a 30 ft. tanker with it. She was a beaut.

So glad you have it licensed and running rather than it being stuck in a museum never to run again. Such an awesome piece of American history. Back when you could live in a small town and have a job to go to after you left high school. NAFTA has since ended most of that and destroyed hundreds of small towns forever.

Brockway also owned Crown Motorcoach of Los Angeles which built quality buses and fire apparatus. The name implied top quality.

She reminds me of that old yellow 1947 Brockway tow truck. At the old Union 76 truckstop State Line, PA. That was late 90's.

Nice! Back in the days of iron men and wooden trucks! Once in a while I drove a 1951 Brockway with 262 overhead valve Continental, 5 speed RoadRanger with electric over air two speed axle. I worked for a guy that used it as a wrecker. Even in the 80's, there weren't many local trucks that could run with it. It's still around...

What you haven't put spring brakes on it yet, they should be a drop in fit. Several friends have done that to their 40's and 50's brake systems, though one is still vacuum. You need enough brake for our long hills. Have fun

Most folks who never heard of a Brockway never heard of a Henway, either. "What's a Henway?" somebody asked. "Usually at least five pounds less than a turkey."

I'm a 48 year veteran long haul driver and have driven these old trucks. One thing that always baffled me was the fact that they often had a convoluted shift pattern. I got pretty good shifting them, but always wondered why they were designed that way. Anybody know?
