Old Chevys never die! She sounds great for an old gal!

@@johncaballero8013 you definitely got that right! She runs like a sewing machine! Chevy may have been late to the party with V8's but those old straight 6's were runners! Only thing I wish was it was a 235 instead of the 216. The 235 had a better oiling system and modern insert bearing

Love the old 48 chevy it's a nice car it runs like a champ I love everything about it its the real made car my wife and I love all the antique automobiles we use to own 2 1966 chevy impalas with original engines and transmissions I should have never let them go but I learned a valuable lesson I may never own another antique automobile but if I ever do again I'm holding on to it and won't sell it thanks for bringing the 1948 chevy back to life keep up the good work I just subscribed to your channel have a nice day and god bless

@@chestercribb9075 I always say, never say never. We never know what the good Lord has in store for us, and you may find your self behind the wheel of a old car again someday😉 I have a sweet spot for this 48. I remember the first time I saw it and just loving the body style and the Banjo steering wheel. I've got this and my 54 Oldsmobile. Old cars and Tractors hold a special place in my heart. I can do and restore nearly anything, but those are my favorites. Thanks for watching and subscribing! Bless you as well, and wishing you and yours a great Holiday season 😊

Looking good as it is with the potential to be a real beauty like the Oldsmobile. And I'm one of those rare individuals who prefers 4 door cars. I started out with a 66 Catalina wagon and got hooked on the practicality.

The master cylinder for the brakes is under the driver floor and is accessible by opening up the square plate and opening you can then take the cap off and add fluid. I bled the brakes on my 47 myself by filling the cylinder, pumping up and then opening each bleeder on each wheel one at a time until all were bled. The pedal will go down by itself when opening the bleeder. This is a trick I got over on my Dad and he said “ Well I’ll be “. lol 😅
@MrVintageRestoration2 сағат бұрын
@@davidadkison4702 I love it!!! I knew the cylinder was under the drivers floorboard. But held off on it right away, figured the bleeders would probably break off. I'm debating on upgrading the master and adding a booster. I want this car mostly stock, but like to add some safety features

The 47 & 48 had vacuum shift for 2nd gear so it made it easier to get into second.
@MrVintageRestoration2 сағат бұрын
@@davidadkison4702 it seemed I read something about a vacuum shift assist, but didn't get under the car to look. It would start to go into 1st but wouldn't hold and you could hear the gear grind like it wasn't fully engaged. I decided it was best not to force it until I could get it back to the shop for a closer inspection. Thanks for confirming the vacuum shift 😀
