Despite the age of the 1948 Lincoln Continental and the primitive technology used in the manufacture of these first V12 and V8 engines, when I heard it running I expected a smoother running engine. The technology used in these engines is practically the same as that used in the Ford Model A engines, 100 years ago, still quite primitive. However, I noticed a somewhat rough operation, which I believe is due to the displacement of the pistons within the block's steel cylinders, probably steel pistons and not light alloy pistons as they are in more modern V-shaped engines. The crankshaft lubrication is by fisherman, a very poor system at higher speeds, it fuses the bearings - filled with patent metal - of the crankshaft in the block and connecting rod. It's a car to drive slowly on the weekend.
