Стиль авто машин конца 40-х и начала 50-х выглядит более изысканным, чем современные , схожие меж собой, как мороженное на палочке. Браво !!! мастеровым, сохраняющим старинную красоту.....

Grandfather had one identical in color. Only his had a thick cord attached across the rear of the from seat which helped rear passengers get their balance while exiting the car. It had a steering column open fan defroster and a search light on the passenger side. Many memories for sure.

A most reliable workhorse. There were a few of these still operating as taxis in México City in the late 60's. Thank you for sharing.

The first car I remember my dad having was a '47 Dodge sedan. This Plymouth is just like the one my great aunt had. She took her half of the road out of the middle and never had an accident. I believe she caused a few, though. The chief of police in our small town had to talk her into giving up her license in her late 80s. His job WAS, after all, to ensure the peace and safety of the citizens.

I really have a profound connection to these old 40s cars and it is a life goal of mine to own one and build it up to enjoy it and cherish it. I am just hoping that I can pick one up before cars like these become harder and harder to find and afford.

@@christianharrison3633 In my country there is one for $3,500, but they also ask for $15,000 for a restored one. Although with our market more than $8000 they don't pay.

Identical to one that my mom had '56-60. She sold it and bought a new 1961 Ford Falcon which I inherited and still own. It's now powered by a Ford 302 with C4 A/T and has 9" rear differential.

Buyers got a lot of car for the money when these new. The company spared no expense on chrome and stainless steel. The dash/instrument panels are out of this world and outright beautiful. Love seeing those stock gauges work and your car has a radio too. Forget restoration (except maybe taking the dent out) This car looks and runs fine AS IS. Chrysler cars had electric wipers long before Ford and GM did. On Plymouths they were optional.

East of the Mississippi River cars of the 40s traveled mostly on local streets and country roads. The long stroke engines had about 90- 100 hp with high ratio rear axles. This combination produced a lot of torque , great for stop and start driving and for intercity and interstate trips on two lane federal and state highways at typical speeds of 45 to 50 mph. These cars were capable of speeds above 60 , but the engine revs would get pretty high and the gas mileage would drop a lot.

Beautiful car. I would bang out the dent in the fender and that would be it. Drive and enjoy. Is that an over drive at the bottom of the dashboard? Paint is fantastic
