GMC is really coming together , sweet Truck. It’s driving nice, Your Ghia looked pretty sweet too, I taught My Son to drive on a ‘71 convertible Bug, I think the Bug was 10years older than him,

Hi Dave, another great video, looks like you are in good shape now, as good as my truck drives down the road if i take my hand off the wheel it will eventually pull to the right, so what i did was drive down the other side of the road and it would go to the left, hillbilly alignment good enough for me, lol, thank you for the mention much appreciated, and Dave i am going to be getting some stickers soon, if you would like me to send you one you can go to my about on the home page and email me your info, i would love to send you one, thanks Mike

I need to replace right rear leaf spring shackle assembly just like you did. Can you advise what was the hight of the jack stand you use?
@Volfandt7 ай бұрын
They were the std size automotive jack stands. Be careful and you should be GTG

Thanks for your response. Well, our jack stands is not the standard height you have they are shorter. But we did a work around by removing both rear tires and lowering the chassis till it sat on top of our stands. This gave us about 8” clearance between the garage floor and the brake drums. This allowed us to remove the shackle and with a second hydraulic jack we gently raised it to take up the tiny difference that aligned the shackle holes.

I’m assuming that your Chevy has the original type rims on it and I was wondering what your tire size was? I talked to you the other day about bone yard parts, just a heads up , I purchased a GMC rolling chassis a while back for parts if you are trying to find anything like that I would be willing to let some parts go

Good eye. those are the stock 16" wheels with tubless radials. The tires are Crosswind LT215-85R 16's. They run & handle nice and turn pretty easily. I'd be interested in 2 things, The trucks that had the delux heater option had a long handled temp control rod that bolted under the dash and ran to the firewall, I'd trade for that assembly. The other would be the 2 fender support cross braces that run from the firewall to the fenders. Thats all I can think of at this time. Thanks for the heads up.

@@Volfandt Sorry can’t help, it’s just a rolling chassis with complete driveline,I bought it for the 3 on the tree, mine was gone. However , if you ever want to get rid of your knee action shocks mine is a traditional type shock system, but I did use the driver’s side front mount for mine!

Frighting to think one huge pothole and your rear end could be all over the road.

There wasn't much left of that pin. The pins on my 49 Chevy are in very good shape. Gotta think the GMC was run hard and put up wet far too many times.
