Today its all about suspension upgrades! This 1952 Chevy 3100 rolled into the shop in completely stock configuration fresh out of the field. I started off by completely stripping the truck down to a bare chassis and sandblasting the entire chassis. Once back down at the shop, a triangulated 4-link rear suspension and a new one piece front cradle were installed. After all the welding was completed for the upgrades, a coat of Sem was applied to the bare chassis, then everything reassembled. Moved on to the fire wall for a little sheet metal work, recessing it back 4 inches to make a little more room in the engine bay for a future LS install!

This is not as easy as how he makes it look. I've done a 4link rear suspension and the number of times of measuring and adjusting was wild.

I've got a buddy that got a Jaguar independent rear end to fit under a 48 five window. Definitely not what you would expect when you look under the back of his pickup. (Nova front sub)

Very nicely done, I have a similar front Mustang 2 set up on my 41 Ford pickup and rides a whole lot better than stock, great video!

What frokt end kit and what rear end was used in this ?
@rottersgarage

This kit was made by a gentleman named Larry from Sparta rod and customs. Unfortunately, Larry passed away a while ago and these kits are no longer available. The rear is basically like any other triangulated 4 link, but his were heavy duty compared to most. The front end however in my opinion is a one of a kind. Just drop it in on the center line of the axle and weld it in, all angles preset, for the most part... The one piece cradle allowed for that but all his kits were vehicle specific, so this was a 47-54 kit, and he made many others. I do have some pieces here for this specific front cradle, one day I would like to duplicate the patterns into my plasma table so I can build my own for the 47-54 Chevy's.....

@@rottersgarage thank you for replying! And I have a 1950 chevy 3800 flatbed and is absolutely clean with no rust whatsoever. I live in California and got it for 5k. Runs and drives perfect. However, I am going to buy a front IFS for it and probably am going to go with the 70-81 gm 12 bolt rear end (camaro/firebird), which I think will work fine. Im going going to keep it a flatbed, but not do the dually anymore. I have found many front bolt on (I mig weld too though) kits that look preset as well. Most are for a 3100/3600, but some places are unsure about the frame differences from the 3100/3600 to the 3800. They want me to measure my frame and send them the measurements. As you know, the 3800 is a 1 ton. I THINK the frames are the same (like the body), but the differences might be because of the spring packages- not sure. Scotts hotrod makes them specifically for the 3800, but is about $4500 so a bit pricey.

@@rottersgarage btw, I just completed my 1954 f100 and put a 2006 crown vic front IFS in it as well as the rear end out of it. The front end is perfect- looks great and doesn't rub at all. For the rear end, I bought the 3 inch wider (fiberglass) rear fenders and looks amd drives amazing.

This is my truck!. Rotter worked his magic on it and his work turned out great. It is going to be a Sweet setup. A 6.0 LS is sitting in it now, and now setting up the rear brakes, need to fit up a clutch master cylinder, lots of stuff left to do, still got a ways to go before it'll drive. I'll plan to get some videos on my channel. I need help with the PCM tuning when I get to that step!

@robertkrupa2552 Who makes that IFS that you used?

@blue32nu it comes from a small shop in central Wisconsin that Rotter gets the kits from. Sparta Rods I think might be the name of the shop.
