For sale in our Atlanta showroom is this fine piece of American History, a 2-owner 1950 Packard Super Eight. She has been with the same owner the last 49-years! For more than a century, automobile enthusiasts have considered Packard to be the epitome of elegant design and high-quality engineering. This Super Eight embodies Packard's high-quality found in the classic cars that they produced. Powered by the famous Packard Super Eight engine, mated to the Ultramatic 2-speed transmission, this survivor is showing just 92,200-miles on her clock - and is consignor stated original. She was repainted once - years ago, and the Maroon paint still shows very well. All her trim, bumpers, and bumper guards, are all in very good condition - and some may even think they’ve been re-plated - it’s that nice. For styling, she adorns the sun visor people loved, along with a set of fender skirts, which just fits the era! When you start that motor - she just purrs, and is so quiet - yet she runs very well, and shifts through the gears with ease. Take a peek inside, and you can tell - she’s been cared for her whole life! The 2-tone Tan/Brown cloth interior just screams her vintage, and is like a time capsule, excluding the replaced carpet. Look in the trunk - and you’ll see the same situation, she’s detailed and clean! For more information please contact us.

Packard styling and engineering at it's zenith. Although some derided this version as the 'bathtub' Packard, it was in my opinion, the epitome of American automotive luxury and class...

I really like the color, looks really good on this Packard. Looks like a 2 speed automatic

A Packard with Ultramatic Drive should not be listed as a "2 speed manual". It was the first automatic transmission with a lockup torque converter and was designed and manufactured in house by Packard. Shift quadrant was P N H L R. In H(high) the car moved off using torque multiplication. Once inertia was overcome the direct drive clutch locked the torque converter and felt as it was a manual in 3rd gear. L(low) was used for fast getaways and down hill braking.

Thank you for this great information. I grew up with them and were was nothing in this world like the sound from the rear with that deep throated roar of that big straight 8 engine.

I have one of these. The body is in great condition, when you close the doors they go thunk like it was new. I want to get it running again. It was my grandfather's car.

My father had three at our funeral home in Chicago. The hearse was probably the the firs and last time our " clients" got to ride in a Packard !My grandfather did brisk business with the gangsters during prohibition. They used to call ahead to book.

I used to own a '50 Packard, complete car and solid black. When I left for Basic Training some anal born turds broke into it and destroyed the interior. The car was so badly wrecked inside with the wiring and everything ripped out that it was just cheaper to sell it for salvage. I never found out who did it but there's a very HOT spot that they deserve to spend eternity "enjoying"!

The difference between a 1940 and a 1950 is staggering in terms of body style. I'll stick with the 40, if I had the choice. Probably the same flat head straight 8 under both hoods....
